Mark when you go to an event you get 3 runs right before an event starts to "find out what the track is doing" props to you for being able to make adjustments needed before competition starts! I know your not all about the ET as you posted! now people who go to TNT night chasing that ET sometimes only get 3-4 runs at PRP sometimes more! after they "figure out the track" for that night after a few runs there night is pretty much shot and didnt get tuning other places they wanted and would be frustrated wouldnt you agree...

I'm not saying I make adjustments, I am saying that I have built my car to hook, it will hook anywhere. We only get 2 time runs, I have never been under my car at any track making adjustments.

All this being said, I know that many of the crowd here are all about the street car "factor" drive it in, drive it out. My car would be horrible to drive on the street, so that is one major difference I don't need to worry about street manners. That is a trade off, if a car is a street ride, and is more designed for the street then the track, I don't think it is fair to blame the track. Not to mention throwing in manual transmissions to the mix makes it even harder to hook consistently anywhere, not even taking track conditions into account.

Nutswingers LMAO... I dont think so, nore will we go to any extent to back the track. We have complaints about PRP also but they are a little more legit and voice our opinion to the correct people.

There are so many factors that play a role in a cars ability to hook not just how well the track is preped. Im pretty sure PRP preps the track in the same manor every week. They dont say hmmm... lets not prep the track as well today LOL. You have factors such as track temp, amount of rubber on the track, tire temp, air pressure, inconsistent burn outs, type of tire, size and compound, suspenions (large variation), cars weight, torque and HP, transmission, DRIVER... and so on. All these variables and the first thing blamed is the track prep LMAO.

Yes, most of the guys on here cant adjust there cars to help but that doesnt mean you blame the track prep. Maybe its the 100 others things that can effect traction. And if you have a street car setup to driving on the street why would you expect to hook a 100% every time. Lets be realistic...

I am sure a few regulars here can attest, I am not an all out, no matter what supporter of PRP. I have however been elsewhere, and I will say if you can't hook at PRP (most of the time) then you don't have a chance at many other places I have been.

Oh, and what difference does it make if I am a weekly bracket racer? My car goes down the track just like yours or anyone else, I just race for something instead of a time slip.

This is a general statement, not directed at Ed's original post.
On a bracket day, slicks outnumber street tire cars at least 3-1. So traction is going to be better than a test and tune day, where I *think* street cars are at least 1-1, if not outnumbering slick cars. Street tired cars wear down a track prep very quickly.

Moved 1" per pass on last two. Both tires were doing the exact same thing and same amount of movement. So I won't be getting tires mounted at NTB anymore. Still it was consistant today except on last run where it blew tires off after I crushed tree(.003) and run was over.

Pretty sure I know when both beads gave up holding. 7/30 when it went 1.57 than 1.62 next pass. Now sixites have fallen to 1.65-1.68 with it blowing them off instantly and getting some crappy 1.7's.

So time to screw tire to rim.
Kudos to Ed for searching for the issue, and posting up what he found.

Correct, this was not directed to anyone, just a general statement. And excellent point on the street tires, they do wipe the prep right of the track.

How do they do that? Please excuse the stupid question, but I am curious.

Treaded street tires tear up the rubber and prep creating bald spots on surface. Especially bad around starting line.

Its not a stupid question. A regular street tire is treaded and hard and after a track is prep you have a thin layer of rubber down with sticky compound on top of it, and when "1" car with regular street tires goes up hold the pedal to the floor and dumps the clutch like an idiot and blows the tire off, all thats rubber and compound that made the track sticky is gone. Now the next guy goes down and says "the track prep is terrible here". This is why you will see most tracks prep the track after the street cars go. You will also see them sprinkle a powder on the starting line then spray it with the compound, this powder is gold dust and is to repair the bald spots that the street tire cause.

Street slicks will not hurt the prep its only the regular street tires andd mainly when they spin the tires. A regular street tire will probably hook better on the street then on a well prepped track because a track should be prepped different for a radial then a slick.
