Money is motivating the whole thing, and the thinking is to lose a little bit in the short term than risk the years and years of income he can bring to the franchise. Out of all major sports, Hockey still has the grassroots mentality behind it and I believe that many of people in SIdney's corner authentically want him to be healthy not just for the money.

I like how he is not rushing back prematurely. Take your time, Sid. If he is back to 100% at the start of February that's great - he'll be fresh and back up to speed with plenty of time before the playoffs. If it takes longer, so be it. He has so many years of great hockey ahead of him. There is no reason to put his career at risk to play in what are basically meaningless games prior to Christmas.
