    Pre-Sale: 1968 Mustang Fastback - Needs Restored

I will be selling a 68 Mustang Fastback in a few weeks for a friend.

Thought I would give local SCS a heads up before it goes on Ebay.

    68 Fastback
    J Code 302
    Automatic
    Mostly complete
    Has some rust issues
    Runs but does not drive

Will have lots of photos in a few weeks when it goes up for sale nationally.

This is just a pre-sale for anyone who is local and serious.

I think he means that right now, if someone wants it, they have to go thru ebay - at least as long as the auction is underway.

From Sept 12th to Oct 5th it was available to local SCS members only first.

Now it is on Ebay up for auction and will only be sold through the auction.

For those who seem to have missed the obvious...

I offered this car to SCS members first as a pre-sale at the rock bottom price, giving anyone at SCS the opportunity to buy it before it went up for sale nationally. My first two posts clearly state that. If anyone was seriously interested in buying this car, they would contact me to make arrangements to see it. After 3 weeks I had no interest and I had to move on.

In order to prepare it for a national sale, I had to put the fenders back on, put the seats back in it, get it running, get it out of the garage, wash the inch of dirt of it, take 75 photos, upload them to the server and write-up the description. Now after all that work and it being up for auction on Ebay with a market value reserve price, I can no longer sell it outright locally because that would be unfair to the other bidders.

I hope that clears up any confusion.

This post tells me that you are selling a car in a few weeks for a friend. You are letting SCS members have a heads up that it is coming up for sale.

I think it was confusing and that is why you didn't generate any interest local, just my thoughts on the matter.

I am sure you will sell it as it looks to be in rebuildable shape.

Post 3 tells the member who asked for pics that they will be up when it goes on sale nationally in 3 weeks.

Post 10 is not relevant to the discussion.

Up for sale for SCS members is XXXXXXX. Going on Ebay in three weeks, PM me if interested. Would have been a better choice of description.

    1) I never saw an asking price
    2) Obviously you never had photos
    3) Put a disclaimer "reserve right to end auction early due to local sale"
    4) I need more friends like you

    One last time...

This was a pre-sale for SCS, before it went up for sale nationally.

I was giving SCS members the oppertunity to buy the car before it went up for sale nationally.

Anyone that was a serious buyer could contact me and say "hey I want to come see it"

Nobody contacted me in 3 weeks so I put it up for auction.

Note taken for the next car that goes up for sale. :)
