1988 GT Hatch project - what's it worth?

    Hi guys,

A friend wants to sell a 1988 GT hatch - maroon / titanium that belonged to his nephew who passed away recently. Motor ( 70k ) and T5 tranny are out of the car. Weld-style rims on it. Looks to be solid, but not terribly pretty. I'm going to look at it in person tomorrow. What would this thing be worth as a roller? What would you value a 70k 5.0 and T5 at? I will post up pics and more info once I see it - but now just looking for your thoughts as to what it might be worth, assuming the car is solid.

12.76 @ 114.04 bone stock. Koni yellow coil-overs, BMR watts, LCA and LCA relo brackets, Borla S-type axle back.

1966 Coupe - 331 stroker - Bullet custom roller cam - cam and motor installed and dyno tuned by Rodeheavers Hot Rod - Astro A5 - McLeod RXT - 486 to the wheels - more fun than my little tires can handle

1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - currently NOT on jackstands

Given the body is rust free, $1000?

I'd say the motor and trans, stock, maybe $8-900

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

Well, if you could get in it and drive it... maybe $3500 if it's in average shape?

But you can't get in it and drive it, somebody's got to put the drivetrain back in... why was it even out? Is that old 5.0 really ready to go? Are there any 2nd gear sychros left? Can you find every piece to put it all back together or are you going to have some wild goose chases for a pigtail wiring harness or something?

I like the numbers above ($1,000 w/out the engine, maybe $1500 - $2000 if it all "seems" to be there) unless it's got a perfect leather interior or a suitcase full of $50's in the back.

It's about time you look at another Mustang... it's been a couple of months since you bought one!

Hehehe - it isn't for me. I'm just trying to help my buddy sell the stuff. The parents don't know much about all the toys their son had, so I was called in to help evaluate and price everything so they can get rid of it.

    And my next car won't be a project - it'll be a brandy-new 5.0!!

I wonder if Joe Y. might be interested in it for Joey's car?

I was thinking the same thing - saw the car - and all the parts to put it together - tonight. It is definitely a project, but might be right up Joe's alley. I'm going to call him this weekend. The car has Weld wheels on it in nice shape.
