BeaveRun Track Day-$160 for all groups!

    http://www.racepa.com/content/index.php?topic=8750.0

October 2. I will likely be there instructing, although I doubt I will be running anything. Great event with a TON of track time, if you have ever done a flat out day at BR, this is nothing like it. WAY more time on track. Feel free to PM me with any specific questions.

Mark, this is the same thing we did last year at Nelson Ledges right?

I got an email from the guy in charge of the event last year.

Yeah, same guy, same format. Trying to help him out, entries are pretty low at this point. BR isn't cheap to rent out.

Mark - what sort of tech inspection is there for an event like this? I couldn't find anything regarding tech inspection on the linked sites or the BeaveRun site for this particular event. Do you need the "Vehicle Technical Inspection Form" that is mentioned for a Flat-out day? Is there a cursory tech inspection at the track? My tires would pass inspection ( barely - planning to get new tires over the winter ), and at the moment my passenger window motor is on the fritz. Other than that everything is ok, except I'd probably flush the braking system and get some fresh fluid in there so I don't get fade after 1 lap.

Also - what type of instruction is there at this event? I've never run an event like this, so I'm definitely a "C" group guy.

Per the link, it looks like a Snell approved motorcycle helmet is ok for this event, so I can borrow one of those. But...on the BeaveRun site for Flat out days, it says "Snell SA-rated helmets (2000 or newer) are required. Must have Snell sticker affixed to inside of helmet. DOT motorcycle helmets are not acceptable." So I'm a little confused on that one...

I just don't want to decide to do this and register ( pay ) and then find I'm not able to run.

    Thanks for the help.

    Ron

Just a basic tech inspection. I would definitely flush the brakes. No need for a tech form, tech is done at the track.

I will be instructing (barring an emergency), you will be fine. Someone is always available to help beginners.

Ron, the motorcycle helmet is fine. That is what my wife has (I do have an SA helmet, need it for hillclimbs). This event doesn't have anything to do with Beaverun, the track is being rented out by Torqued Racing Solutions, so it is a bit more laid back, and more track time.

Any other questions, feel free to PM me, I will give you my phone number so you can give me a call if you like.

Funny considering the event was nearly cancelled. They added another instructor, so there will be 2 now. Lots of group C drivers.

No, I get to run if I want though. Since the car is for sale, I won't be. Just helping out.

Did you ever put a bar and harnesses in your 1st gen mustang?

I thought that thing would get some track time....

I'd love to take the '66 to the track. The ProCar Rally seats are in, but no roll bar / harnesses yet. If I ever stop working 60+ hour weeks I might have time to work on the '66.

Jeez - the forecast keeps getting colder and wetter - 48 for a HIGH and now 80% chance of wet stuff. I hope we luck out and stay dry. If not, it sure will be a bit of a pucker-fest...at least for me.

Good point Mark! And so will the carpet under the gas pedal, as I won't be mashing it if the track is wet unless I want to be sideways all the time! I'm guessing damp conditions will force me to concentrate more on good technique...maybe that is a good thing.

Time to break out the Rain-X!!!
