    .... in with the new

I didn't wanna whore up 2000GT's thread, and i feel bad that i kinda already did, so i'll make my own thread....

Here's a few of my new place ...

we're still kinda moving in, and getting thing where we want them, so everything seems really unorganized... but its getting there... slowly - but surely...

haha thanks! I have a lot i'd like to do with the garage... gotta get that couch and other garbage out of it here soon, and next spring i think i wanna do something with the floor... one of those garage floor coatings... just something to spice it up, and have something other than just gray concrete

Its also super nice because those steps in the back are a full staircase that runs up into an attick which runs the whole length of the house (where there's not cathedral ceilings)... And above the garage is a HUGE space that could easily be made into a workshop or man-cave or something... its the size of the garage, with 75% of it having enough room to walk around standing upright...

I would definitely recommend coating the garage floor...I did it to my parent's garage last summer. It was super easy to do and looks great. Home Depot sells kits that include everything you need

yea - unfortunately, with all the stress i endured over the other catastrophe, i feel like i built 3 places then bought 5 more....

i have seen them in sears, but i will check them out there... i say next spring b/c i'm assuming the fumes are real bad and you're supposed to keep the doors open - and i just will be too busy this fall to clean everything outta that garage, clean the floor, paint it, let it dry, and then move everything back in...

Gorgeous place!! For the garage floor, check out U-Coat-It products. I've heard good things about it. It is an industrial coating that will hold up much better than the typical DIY kits sold at the big box stores.

i used the kit from lowes from quick crete and love it ,i had it done on a sat and it didnt smell bad at all once the cleaner dried , your garage would need 3 kits or so and they only run 60 bucks ,the u coat it runs 500 or more for your size floor

yea, i looked that up... it said i'd be looking at .44 per square foot..

As far as the stuff at Lowe's, i'd consider doing it this weekend except they're calling for a lot of rain... certainly wont hurt the cars to get rained on, but dunno what i'd do with the rest of my stuff - so i think i'tll just have to wait a little while

    thanks

The U-Coat-It will give you a much more durable finish than the stuff at Lowes or Home Depot. You get what you pay for. A buddy has the U-Coat-It ( or something very similar ) on his garage floor and it is amazing.

I did a little bit of looking this morning, and i kinda like the Rust-oleum one, as it can be color customized... but, black isn't one of the colors listed on their website... and for some reason i think a black or very dark slate color garage floor would be sweeeeeeet...

If i were patient enough, i'd probably do the checkerboard... but i dunno that i have enough patience and time for that... we'll see... i'll think about it

Is it an illusion or is it really 1/2 garage, 1/2 house? If so that's just how it ought to be! High garage ceiling = lift, you know to save your back and safety n at.

You could even acid stain the floor to meet any color you want. Check out acid staining concrete on you tube. With a little practice ill bet you could do it....and maybe even save some money in the process.
