Philadelphia is already on the brink. Telling them they were part of Jersey would the coup de gras kill move.

    Besides, NJ has Camden.

Sometimes I question Bylsma's system. The team is never healthy, and the proof is the man games lost and the fact that sid, geno, and staal have only played a handfull of times together in years. Could also be just plain old bad luck....who knows. Boston is CRUSHING teams right now.

I think it's just plain old bad luck... none of the injuries really are a product of Bylsma's system, whatever that may be... blocking a shot, knee on knee collision, those are all (unfortunately) part of any game.

    Damn, this thread is dead.

Anyone going to any of these few home games that are coming up. I'll be at Sunday nights game with the girlfriends family's season tickets.

Any insight on the trade rumors for the deadline? I keep hearing Hal Gill's name coming up which is awesome IMHO. I liked him when we picked him up the first time from Toronto and I was sad to see him go. I would love to get him back.

Looks like Staal will be back for these weekend games. Most regulars to this site and more specifically, the Pens threads, know my opinion on him. So....I guess there is always the trade deadline, right?

    Let's go Pens!

Pens deff. need a little more depth in the D area. Gill would be great. He's slow, but he's been around long enough to know how to work around that. Great to see staal coming back.

Hines Ward leaving the steelers...just had to fit that in the pens thread.

Hmm, well Gill is slow but I've never liked him because of his speed. He's a great veteran shutdown defenseman with cup finals under his belt. I'm all for getting him back. I remember defending him vigorously in our last pens thread on here.

    On the topic of Staal......

And on the topic of Ward......Ward who?

Well, i certainly wouldn't mind seeing Gil come back - but i'd also like to see Sergei Gonchar come back... i'm sure i'm in the minority here, but even though he has lost a step defensively, his PP presence was incredible... I know the Pens' powerplay is like 8th in the league right now, but it still seems like its missing something to me.... And when Gonchar was around, he brought more than just 1 aspect.. his shot was good enough that the other teams PK had to respect it, so it kept them from keying on Malkin... Malkin's 1-timer was INCREDIBLE, and nowadays they don't even try to set it up for 2 reasons... 1.) no one can seem to pass it to him right... it seems like something so easy, but NO ONE can do it like Gonchar did... and 2.) they always have someone just standing in his face if he's on that 1/2 wall... so they've completely gone away from even attempting that shot... and that was how we score TONS of goals on the PP...

I think Gonchar should be in the last year of his contract with Ottawa, and i'd love to see the pens pick him up...

But i think you can also look at the fact that MOST of Crosby's and much of Staal's salary didn't count toward the cap this season - so i think the Pens should have lots of money to go out and get a big name player as a rent-a-player..... I know they say Crosby will play again this season, but does anyone really know?

Cant' wait... really would like to see Geno win another scoring title, and hopefully get the MVP award this time, like he SHOULD have had it last time... Regardless of that, i think we need to have both 71 and 87 to win a cup...

I like how Staal had an assist and a goal and yet ended up as a +-0. I'll give him credit, when he's been healthy this year, he seems like he's been better then years past but I still want him gone.

I agree with most of what you say here but I'm not sure is Gonch is the player he was two or three years ago. Plus, Geno can't work the 1/2 as well as Crosby can. I do like Gonch as a point man, and if we were to pick him up, I wouldn't be opposed to it but I'd like to see Gill back and us make a move for a decent forward.

MVP to Geno for sure, at least at this point anyways....

Also, I'm not positive if we absolutely need 87 to win the cup. Of course I want him back for the run but if we had everyone back healthy with the exception of Sid, I don't think it's impossible.

I'm pretty jacked up about how the team's playing right now. As long as they continue to stay healthy and firing on all cylinders, we have what it takes to go all the way. All the guys know what it takes to win and we're stacked all the way from Center to Goalie.

Today should be a good test. Philly is playing some good hockey as well.
