I think I found my exhaust leak... WTF?

Was cruisin with a couple of my buddies a week ago and my exhaust started to sound like complete shit. By the time I got home it almost sounded like I was running open headers.

    40r S2000 with 561rwhp & 74GTS E85 Supra with 690rwhp.

Jacked it up and made sure the x-pipe and catback was tight, started it up and it still sounded like this.

So I thought that there was either a crack in one of my Mac longtubes or the bolts came loose that hold them on.

I took off the K-member and the passenger side header,

then start to take off the driver side and see this...

I guess I'm gonna call Mac and see if they'll replace it, if not anyone know of a place that could fix it?

Wow! thats a pretty nice circular hole. I'd say thats what caused your "noise"

I'd hope they'd replace it. I could understand a possible weld crack or something from a long period of use, but a hole like that? ehh. Call, let them know your upset and see what they do! If nothing, I'd buy a different set of headers.

Off of the car thats an easy fix... Ive been a welder for 25 years and never saw a chunk of pipe just blow off like that.

X2 - I can not imagine the failure mode of a piece of tubing that would casue that ... I have seen it on my headers when the wastegate flange broke off, but it was something attached breaking off, not just blowing out a piece of tubing ... One of the strangest things I've seen.

For the pipe to fail like that it almost seems like it got whacked with something.

How about some more info on the FFR in the garage!!

I have MAC lt's on my car and I have no complaints... Every company has a bad batch here and there. What can you upgrade to on a terminator? Kooks, for a ton more money.

I'm interested to find out what caused that hole, that's crazy stuff.

Stainless works makes a killer set of long tubes as well.......it almost looks like the header was hitting something to cause it but I doubt that....maybe a rock hit it but doubt that as well since your running a stock K.

Yeah guys I have no idea how it happened. When we left Monroeville it sounded perfectly normal then on the parkway it sounded like a small leak, like my catback was loose or something. By the time we were at Oakland it sounded like my catback fell off and just got louder until I got home. So it started out small then somehow became a 1.5" round hole haha

That is strange, you would think it happened all at once judging by the aftermath. Have you contacted Mac?
