I would just have a piece welded in and not deal with the aggravation of sending them back, etc. Easy fix.

I agree. It's too clean of a hole to just appear out of nowhere, you'd think some of the material would be frayed up or something?

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

Well I talked to Mac. I sent them pictures of the hole and a copy of my invoice. They said that I can send the headers back to them to have the hole fixed and have them re-ceramic coated. They're in California, plus they said it would take about a week to fix them. So I'm just going to have them fixed here and put them back on. Car has been down for 2 weeks and I can't wait 3 more.

BTW I didn't even know this because I didn't install the headers but there was a bung there for the EGR tube. I have an EGR delete so it was capped.

I think I would have countered their offer to repair the header with "send me a new one and I'll send the old one back"

They should send you 2 new headers and have you send the old ones back at their expense. Their stuff isn't cheap, and when there is an obvious defect in the part they should make it right and cause you as little inconvenience as possible. MAC pinching pennies here will probably cost them future sales as people decide to shop elsewhere.

Now the failure makes more scence. I suspect at some level the rest of the EGR system supported the nipple. Who knows what it was capped with, and what stress it would have added to nozzle. The harmonics of a penetration on a header are crazy (vibrations), add in thermal effects and things crack ... Ask us turbo guys :)
