Fox body rear disc conversion - emergency brake cables?

Doing a four wheel disc conversion on my 86 GT. I have a set or rear brake cables from a 94-95 Mustang that are too long (Like 70"). Need some help on what works for a Foxbody read disc emergency brake cable. 1993 Cobra cables are 71" long.

    Isnt nothing easy

what calipers and brackets are you using?

if you are using 94-98s you can run the 94 up cables but you have to put a mount in the trans tunnel to clip them into. supposedly some 93s have it welded on to begin with but i can tell you mine didnt. I just bought ford racing conversion E brake cables to work with the sn95 setup

Hmm. I used my stock 93 cobra cables when I put my 95 cobra rears on.

subscribed, i need this answer too.. i'm using a 99+ rear in a 85.. i was under the impression that you DO have to weld in that tunnel bracket from a donor, but what about the handle mechanics? does the adjuster and bias piece accommodate the later cable ends?

only difference I saw with the e brake handle was a small bracket bolted nearly directly on top of the pivot point. I put the bracket on my fox handle. Its been so long since Ive done it ......but if I remember correctly it did something to auto adjust and pull the slack out of the cable.

I think the 93 Cobra might have that trans tunnel bracket in it.

Hope this helps, this is what I did and bought most of my conversion from North Race Cars. Venom used the same kit and everything seemed to work. I don't know if it is any different from an 86 to an 87-93.

In addition to that, I get the feeling that there is a question looming about using a different ebrake handle so I also found this a couple of weeks ago.

I put a Turbo Coupe rear in my '85 about 15 years ago and IIRC I found Motorsports cables that didn't require anything to be fabb'ed up.

Not sure if those would work on a newer Mustang rear or not....

Down looking at the car today. Confused regarding the cables. having 71" cables won't work. Any SVO owners out there with the rear brake cables on a shelf that can measure them? I had a set of Turbocoupe rear cables that were also too long!

    Taken from the above thread:

"If you have a '93 year car then you use the '93 Cobra cables. If you have a 1979-1986, then you only need the 2 Ford Racing Products M2809A ebrake cables and you reuse the existing front J hook rod to hook to the cables. If you have a '87-'92, then you have to modify the self adjusting pawl on the e-brake and buy the 2 Ford Racing Products M2809A ebrake cables and 1 of the FRP M2810A cables."

When I did the disc brake conversion on my 91 I used all 1995 V-6 parts even the emergency handle. And yes you will need to have the bracket spot welded or screwed in the tunnel. If you use any of the SN-95 cables you will need to run all
SN-95 cables. In all honesty it's easier to use the stock front cables and get the
rear conversion cables from summit racing and do some modification to the parking brake handle mechanism. I was on a budget and found a 95 for parts. but everything will fit IF you use all of the cabels from a 95

I actually have cables that I pulled off of the 95 in the junk yard. I have 95 A-arms too. If anyone can use these parts let me know.
