    difference in GT40 heads

so whats the difference in GT40 and GT40P heads?

and now i see a GT40X or something...but at $600 EACH...i dont see those in my future....the GT40's seem to be about the only head ill find used and not cost a fortune.

also since we already talking about me being poor....is there a decent "budget block" that can handle 400+ rwhp? without breaking like stock 5.0......obviously i dont have 2k to put into a block.

Got that right. Good luck finding one for a reasonable price!! Everybody and their mother knows about this swap and the prices went through the roof!!!!!!!!! Almost as much as a trick flow or edlebrock. The heads I have seen go for as much $450- 500. Couple more dollars and you have a set of RPM's.

    heads

I've got a set of heads, and an intake if anyone is interested. I also have 351w heads. I would like to trade them if at all possible. Ive got my tube chassis fairlane that needs alot of parts to be finished.

I just paid 200 for a set of clean GT40p w/o rockers and rods. I also paid 200 for an Explorer upper and lower intake. On top of that I need a 65 or 70 mm throddle body and maybe an EGR spacer. How does that compare to an after market setup?

Thanks for the info! I didnt realize that the 69 351 heads on my shelf sucked so bad! lol. I think there is 2 differnt types. The ones I have have a 2.0 intake valve. They mave have been redone though.

A properly tuned 5.0L will handle mid 400 RWHP. Keep it under 6,500 rpm and maintain a *conservative* A/F ratio. Thousands have done it with success.
