Not only did I fail at building a fast mustang but I bought a yellow zo6 cause I couldn't get my little dick up.
It takes a LOT of 12-second runs to equal 2 hours of open track time at a road course track day. They're both lots of fun though!

Is the 5th gear in the MT-82 strong enough to handle full-power pulls on the drag strip? That definitely is a no-no with the T-5's.

First gear is useless enough in the MT82 equipped 5.0s with 3.73s, I couldn't imagine 4.56 or 4.88.
Plenty of bolt on 5.0s are needing to shift into 5th gear during a drag race.

Input Shaft - 26 Spline
1st - 3.66
2nd - 2.43
3rd - 1.69
4th - 1.32
5th - 1.00
6th - 0.65
I seem to cross the traps around 7300-7400 rpm in 4th off the spray.
theres been two different schools of thought with the new 5.0. Run a 28" tall tire and gear it for 3.73 or 3.90 and keep it in 4th crossing the traps for NA builds. OR run a 26" tire, gear it for 4.10-4.30 and power it through 5th.

Ok - I see now that 4th in a T5 and 5th in a MT82 are both 1:1.
I've been told by many people that hammering 5th gear at the track in a T5 is asking for big trouble. I wonder how many passes those T-5s are surviving.
