I don't really get where you come off insulting their intelligence.

Nobody can be as smart as you Bish.

It has absolutely nothing to do with me... it has to do with people on this site that spew B.S. like "the reason GM nearly went belly up was because their quality is miserable" ... that's just an ignorant, unsubstantiated and "stupid" claim... its well documented and easily researched why GM got themselves into trouble... If you make opinionated statements such as "i don't liek GM products because, in my experience, their qualisty has been poor," you're entitled to your opnion based on your experience... then others here will either agree or diasagree with you based on their own personal experience... but if you're going to make uneducated claims, with the intention of them being factual statments, i'm going to call you out on it...

didn't mean to turn this one into an arguement... thought i was sharing information about ongoing problems in the gm "high feature" v6 engine family.. got another one in today with a p0011 for bank 1 intake camshaft position system performance, caused by cam end play.. putting thrust washers between the cam phasers and the front can bearing cap fixes this one... rear bank on an acadia makes it a pain

So, i mean this as a serious question (since some might take it as a smart-ass question)....

As a mechanic, wouldn't you be inclined to be not purchase (or be disgusted with) the kind of vehicles that you typically work on?

Just seems to me like if you worked as a Mechanic at say a BMW dealership... and all you saw was BMW after BMW after BMW, then i would think that you'd never want to buy a BMW, as you keep seeing problem after problem after problem that goes wrong with the car... statistically speaking, you're drastically reducing your sample size, so the variance of reliability is going to be very large....

edit: BMW might be a bad choice, as they are known to be maintenance nightmares... but i think you get my drift

I'm not saying I hate one or the other because I've owned both but, as a consumer, I can surely say that I would be less likely to buy a GM and would be more inclined to go to another manufacturer based on the quality improvements I've seen compared to GM in the last 10 years.

I understand you here... I think the new Ford trucks might be my favorite of the truck lineup... however, when it comes to cars (other than sports cars), I may have been permanently swayed to spend my money on the other side of the Pacific Ocean... i really love my IS ...

I would 100% buy a caddy after working on them all day. I can fix them with my eyes closed and get parts very cheap! I would buy any GM before any other brand if I was looking at a daily to not modify (if I could afford it)
