    My 86 GT Project

A few guys on here have seen my 86 GT. Its a nice survivor for a mid 80s Pony affectionately named "Casper".

The car has the original paint. I have added details like a Mach 1 Cervini hood. Now in the process of doing a SN95 Four wheel disc conversion. Suspension will have:
    Koni shocks/ struts
    Bullitt Mustang springs
    93 v-8 Mustang K member
    Cobra R wheels with NITTO 275 40R 17s & 24545R17 tires
Steeda Weight Jacker lower control arms
13" Cross drilled and slotted rotors
    Mustang Cobra 10th anniversary calipers.
8.8 with 3:55 gears, Ford Explorer carrier and Moser 31 spile axles
    T/A Rear End Girdle
Susp[ension Technique Front / Rear sway bars.

This car will be used for a cruiser. Proud to say I have had it all these years and she is still my baby!

Who is doing the work for you? I see alot of stangs in the background.

Thanks for the complements! The Mustang is being done by Frank Brunner in New Kensington along with a few other projects including a Cobra and 1979 Vette.

Curious about the profile and clearance. That is why I have the Steeda weightjacker lower control arms. The front with the 93 V-8 K member also has me concerned. Working through the smaller details.

what's different about it? is it wider track? looks like you have some poke but a smaller profile tire should tuck in there, eh? mine looks like that a lil but i'm hoping to get away with 235/40s

Finally found the correct emergency brake cable. Rear end is together. Just need to install the KONI shocks and KONI quad shocks. She is rockin and a rolling!

It was between getting a four eye and my Mach...THAT is by far the best Fox body style hands down...I love them in white and the light blue...Great car!

Thanks! The old fox bodies are not as developed as the new Mustangs but they have a simple toughness about them. They are slower, dont handle as well and dont brake as well but when we see one its like seeing an old friend. When I drive mine, I am 25 years old again!

Hearing a fox 5.0 reminds of being 10 years old and what made me fall in love with Mustangs,

This old Pony is far from being done. Stage 1 was to do the rear end, suspension and brakes at one time. After the 4 wheel disc conversion is over, the 302 will get warmed up.

This Pony is a cruiser and will never be the fastest Mustang but it will be FUN!

Stage 2:Plans for the engine to warm it up is a 1993 Cobra mass air conversion, slotted pistons, a set of aluminum heads, a nice roller cam, roller rockers, GT40 Tubular intake (keeping with the Fox Body/ early Cobra theme), long tube headers and removal of all the pollution stuff.

This will be a normally aspirated Mustang that will be quicker that stock but a very dependable driver.

Stage 3 may be a newer transmission.

Stage 4 will be putting a fiberglas Cervini rear hatch on the car and getting the stone chips touched up.

The first stage was a monumental task where parts have been accumulated over the years. The future is now!

    Thanks Jay!

I had a brand new Stainless 2 1/2" Dynomax exhaust that was for one of my other Mustangs (that I no longer have) so it went on the Pony today. Sway bars are installed. Stainless steel break lines getting put on and the height of the weight jackers will be changed. After that, the car will be lowered and have the wheel clearance evaluated. This will be the cruitial part. The wider K frame raises question marks but looking at the car when the ROH ZR6s were installed, the clearance does not look that much different. Fingers crossed!

Well she is on the pavement. The four wheel disc feel good with the stock 86 master cylinder/ booster/ The tires/ wheels are really wide!.. Konis/ Bullitt springs ride / handle nice. Had a dynomax stainelss exhaust that I replaced the old dynomax exhaust with. Man does it sound good!!
