Just thought I'd share a quick story that a few of my good friends on here already know....
This year in PA, 18,253 people paid to get into the lottery for a Elk license... out of those, only 56 elk linceses were given out. Of of taht limited number, only 18 were bull elk tags....
Well, it just so happens that my father won one of the bull elk tags... and it was the ONLY bull tag for the zone that he chose to hunt... The elk hunting season began this past Monday, Oct. 31 and runs thru this Friday...
I got a call on Monday night that my dad shot a 6x6 bull elk!! He had been giddy, he was so excited that he even won the tag, as its a once in a lifetime opportunity... and now, i can only imagine how giddy he is that he got one!! I'm really happy for him, as he has been an avid hunter his entire life, and its gotta be a dream come true!
*Unfortunately he wasn't able to get a weight on the animal... the private land owner between the state forest land and the road would not allow them to drag the animal across his property, so they had to quarter it right there in the woods and bring it out piece by piece... from research, i'm assuming it would have been around 600-800 lbs
I have a cell phone pic attached... i'll post up some more pics once he gets a chance to come home and put them on the computer...
