what makes you think a hydroseeder wont washout
(they do) if you want to garuntee no washouts, then you need to lay sod on it, not seed it.

hydroseed comes up in 5-7 days and the birds don't have a field day with it comes in thicker less weeds. One neighbor got reg seed last year and other got hydro reg seed looks like crap. The hydro looks like its been well manicured for 10 years

did both people water the same way at the same time did both people use the same feeed? you can hardly compare like that unless all variables are the same. since i do this for a living, all i can say is one is not better than the other. it's only the company who does it and the quality of seed they use. all lawns will get weeds, unless treated. seed is usually a mix of several types to get the perfect lawn some seeds germinate a tad quicker than othersbut they all should start around the first week as long as there are ideal conditions.

hydro seeding is usually the cheapest since they can get it done quicker. but they are in no way better quality than regular old seeding

hey tom, I would ask that neighbor what he did, when he watered if he used weed control products and what not.

some grasses take better in certain areas because of the soil ph and other variables. if what he is doing is working, I would do that too!
