    trying to plan a combo

    #1

i was thinking GT40 heads and intakes with an F cam.
this is for budget and decent power...still blower or nitrous freindly.

cobra intakes/ ???? heads, with an F cam

    #3

what i need to run an X cam or similar?

my plans are to gather all my parts (performance and body) for 12-18 months...then park the car for a few months for a complete makeover. :D mainly cause i have no garage and wont have my own for about 2 years. :(

i say best way to get your power would be trickflow stage 2 cam, trackheat intake, and twisted wedge heads, and a wet shot of spray. just my .02

yea i had someone else recomend saving for the TF heads. not sure on the stage 2 cam....never looked at it.

im thinking about leaning to the cobra, edelbrock, or typhoon intake...as their new cost is a little more than id pay for used explorer intakes.

with the P heads or just regular 40s. if my old research was right they dont like over .500 lift all that much unless they are ported

Jared, what are your goals for this new combo? What is the budget? Will this be your daily driver? How much gear are you willing to put in it?

Knowing these answers first will help us suggest a proper combo for you.

    1. id like ~400hp in the end (power adder obviously)

    2. budget isnt a HUGE concern as ill be buying parts for over a year...(i dont like to think about final cost. keep the wife happy)

    3. it will be a street/strip car which will be a DD for a little while after completed.

    4. i have 3.73, but planned on 4.10 with 3k stall.

I've always heard good things about the Holley Systemax II kit.
Paul isn't that what your dad ran? (or at least part of the kit I believe)
    He ran 11's right?

i priced those kits.....and the trick flow kits. trick flow was about 3-5 hundred cheaper.

i actually considered last night just buying me a decent little cam to throw into my current motor....then save up for a complete top end kit like the trick flow or something...instead of piecing together parts. at least the kit comes with all bolts and gaskets as well.

Thats what i would do, if you just looking for something to mess around with on the street at this point and take to the track once in a while i saw get a mild street cam and some gears. I dont know what you have done to your car or any details about it, but i would say a mild cam, gears and a wet kit and you should be set until you get your money together for the top end. There are alot of cheap upgrades that do alot such as underdrive pulleys, taken off weight and stuff like that. dont know if it helped of not, but good luck.

just saw that you said you have 3.73s already, if you got gears already throw a 2500~3000 stall in it and some drag radials for track
