    need help asap

Driving and the mustang started making a loud clicking noise. Pulled up to a red light and the whole car was shaking. Pulled into a gas station, poped the hood. Sounds like its coming from the right side.figured id limp it home, tryed to pull out and it started to smoke inside. So i shut it off and here i am waiting for my dad. Whats happing? I dont see any oil so i dont think its a blown head, i smell alittle gas and burning rubber. Maybe a plug?

Known to happen on mod motors. A lot of times you don't see it because it is held in by the COP.

I am betting thats the problem, happened to a buddy of mine. Loud clicking/tapping noise.

Thanks guys, we limped it home. Leaning toward a exsaust gasket blowout or maybe a header. My inspection is Monday so Ill have them fix it or figure out what it is.

Heading down in the garage now to recheck the plugs.

Its common enough that ford makes a kit to fix it. Not too big of a deal as long as shit doesn't get into the cylinder.

I am not sure, Mike @ Wolfpack might be able to shine a little more light on the situation since he has dealt with it before, give him a ring.

Those kits work okay there is really only one issues with them. If you do want to do forced induction later the steel thread insert tends to make that cylinder act like it has a hotter plug in it. At the shop we use the time sert aluminum inserts. But I have seen the heli coils used alot in trucks and cars with no problems.

Doubt I will ever force feed it. Number one, its alot of money and ive read that the GT motor cant handle alot of HP.

Also from reading last night those kits arent cheap at all.

Have it fixed with a Time sert and be done with it. I used that heli-coil kit before on my dad's F250, it didn't last long. Maybe 2 months and blew that sucker right back out.

Very familiar with this as mine blew a plug out halfway home from Texas, hit the gas and it broke up real bad and that "tapping" is the combustion chamber misfiring up through the spark plug hole.

As mentioned above, get a time sert put in, I have 4,500 miles on mine and no issues with it since it was done.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

IMO...if you can't fix it correctly, then you shouldn't own the car. You got several votes for the time sert, and one of the votes come from a vendor...go with the time sert man.
