    take a kid hunting

anybody taken a kid out deer hunting on monday? my son is 10 and i figured out that after coachin him in football and baseball for years, the time we spend scouting, shooting and leaning against a tree in the woods is extra special. dont tell him but i wont sleep much tonite either! the one on one time is just way better than the other times with people around. if u ever get a chance to take a kid hunting or fishing, i say do it. good luck to all the hunters and be safe

Taking my 12yo cuz on Monday since his dad has to work. After that my daughter (8yo) will go with me everyday after she gets out of school.

For a couple years I had friends with kids that I took during the early youth season but they are too old now. That was very enjoyable getting kids to take their first deer.

Took my 17 year old daughter out again this year. She's bagged a couple pocket rack bucks since she was able to shoot basicaly anything before. Well that all changed after she had to get an adult liscence.

She was ready to hold off on smaller ones. About 10:45AM out walks a very nice 10 point about 250+ yards from our ground blind. he's at the crest of a hill and quartering away...finally he turns enough for a shot. She shoots and he tries to run away, but I could see he was laboring big time just to keep from dragging his front legs. I was all exited and she was too, obviously.

We figured out the truck wasn't going to make the trek up to where she hit him in the field. I had to drive around where we could have nice level walking to get to the spot. We finally catch his trail where he entered the woods, and eventually lost it not long after. He was bleeding badly and you could tell it was a lung hit by the blood. We fan out a little and finally I come to a spot where the ground has some ruffled leaves and sunken in deer tracks....and blood! Little pieces of bone as well. Look up and see what I think is a deers body only to walk up to a huge gut pile......

Some scum bag POS took her deer! It's the reason I have trouble getting into rifle season as much as archery. The real idiots seem to surface the week after thanksgiving. I still have a pit in my stomach right now.

I've had it happen to me. Deer was dead, I walked over and saw it. Walked by a guy, started talking and told him I was going to get my grandfather, got back to find the guy and my deer were gone.

WTF is wrong with people? It seems there are idiots and scumbags everywhere.

Two years ago a group of a$$holes from about 3 hours away with a reputation for being a$$holes came into our neck of the woods to "hunt". Their idea of "hunting" is to have rotating shifts of trucks come in every 4-6 hours and shoot anything that moves... buck doe fawn it doesn't matter. Before or after hours? No problem! They just shoot it, let it lay, and if they decide to come get it (I must have found 10 carcasses over the course of the season and about 3 weeks after rotting in the fields/woods) get their wives to come in and haul it back (who's going to think a middle aged lady driving a $50k lexus in their sunday best has a deer in the trunk?). For just about the entire rifle season you could hear shots so often you would think you were in the middle of the Congo or something. These scumbuckets literally cleaned all the deer out.

This year they are FINALLY starting to come back, but all the trailcam shows are spikehorns and a 4 pointer ONCE. The most anyone has seen on their trailcams is a 6 pointer and that guy didn't last long.

I eat deer and rely on getting my limit to offset buying meat at the store and scumbags like this screw it up for everyone who does.

I sincerely hope they catch whoever did this to you.
