    400rwhp

Guy at work has a 92 mustang gt 5spd. He is looking to make 400rwhp with the aid of a 100shot on a nx plate kit. Right now he is looking for different options on what h/c/i to run to achieve his goal. So post them up. I suggested the trick flow top end kit. Budget is 2500 that needs to pay for te supporting mods as well as the hci. Lets hear what ya suggest.

pick up some used AFR 185's, spend the $$ for a custom cam from FTI http://www.flowtechinduction.com/fordcams.htm or camshaft innovations http://www.camshaftinnovations.com/Camshafts.htm , and I would go with a used systemax II intake.

gonna need some bigger injectors, bigger TB, and a tune as well

Any Aluminum H-C-I will do 300 rwhp. Add the 100 shot there you go.
I would find a set of trick flow heads. stage one cam. holley systemax intake. 75 mm T-body 24#inj and meter
You would have to really screw up not to get 300rwhp.

You dont need a custom cam or a tune for 300rwhp.

For $2500 your not going to be able to build a shortblock with supporting mods. So anything more than the 185's is a waste.

he's looking for 400rwhp....a 100 shot of nitrous does not mean automatically 100 horsepower added no matter what. Also, if you want it done right and last a long time instead of assuming an ECU with software from the 80s will safely handle the mods/nitrous, then you are better off with a tune.

Sure you can slap on mods and nitrous, but you won't get the most out of it, nor will it run as long as a vehicle with a tune.

hah no im not. He can reach his goal without one, but there is no denying it will make more power and be more reliable with a tune, that is all

How do you figure a tune will make more power?
The timing is 20 deg.locked... af ratio made most power @11.8. adjusted by fuel pressure regulator. Drivability yes. Wide oped throttle No.

As went12s mentioned pretty much any non-gt40 aluminum head, any 224@.050 duration cam, 30 lb injectors, any non gt40/p/cobra intake, and a good long tube/3" exhaust setup, add the spray and bingo 400hp. Its all 1995 tech stuff..lol. A super simple setup was my flattop, vic jr intake/ head, 248/256 .621/.632 110lsa solid roller, 351w with a 750cfm junk carb.
It made 431 to the wheels, no custom anything, just careful assembly and porting by me. It would run in the 11s all day every day
New combo going in 410w, tea225 high ports solid roller, novi2000, glens fuel system, pa
Supercomp c4, some other things, hoping to run 10's...update 10.50@120 on 8 burned pistons...hoping to run 9's no cage in sight

If you had a tune it would have made 500 and went 10s
