1987-1993 Rear tire sizes / wheel options

I have an '87 Mustang with the standard 16" pony type wheels along with Ford Motorsport lowering springs. While the stance itself doesn't bother me much, I would like to know what you guys have done to get the widest rear tire on while keeping it tucked inside the wheelwells. I was looking to see if you guys that have wider rear tires could post up pics of your cars and maybe a little info on what was done to fit the tires ( quad shock flip or removal, spacers, etc. ) ? Stock or aftermarket wheels ? Backspacing ? I'm thinking my winter purchases are going to upgrading to a 17" wheel package and was looking to see what my options for rear tire sizes would be ? I've heard of 275's and even up to 315's being run in the rear.........

I have 18x10s on the rear of my 93 with 265/35's. Quad shocks had to go.

Before wheel upgrade I had 275's on stock 93 cobra wheels.

My Capri has a stock length fox rear, no quad shocks, and 15x8, 5.5 BS wheels.

    I run a 26-11.50-15 DOT tire, this equates to a 26 x 10" wide tire

I also run 275-50-15 Nitto's DR's on the same size wheels as a street tire ...

The Nitto's run on the small side of the specs for the size.

Both these combo's fit the car very well, nothing sticking out, no rubbing, etc.

One other consideration with tire and wheel packages is tailpipes. My set-up is no help to you, but it has been an issue for guys running 275 and up stuff depening on combo.

Do you have 18's on the front too? If so, what size wheel and tire combo? I assume you have gone 5-lug also.

Thanks to all. Good info, I put an IRS in my 90 and have to get new wheels that are the 05+ to fit inside the wheel wells. I wasn't sure if the 18's old fit, especially in the front. I had tried. Set of 19's and there was clearance issues with turning the front wheels. Didn't want to just go buy 18's and find that I had to run such a short sidewall that it would look like the tire was missing.
