    could someone offer some help?

Im home on leave from the military for christmas, fire up my 98 for the first time in 6 months and she kept getting stuck in reverse. After that she would get stuck in random gears. now there is a noise coming from the car that sounds like something is stuck in the wheel (sort of a rubbing noise) but its not coming from the wheels. I put her in neutral and also pressed in the clutch but the noise kept on going. (this is when I'm driving). also there is grinding noise when i put it in gear. its not the clutch because nothing is slipping and it still engages in gear it the same point as before. any ideas?

    Is it leaking trans fluid?

The rubbing grinding noise could just be rust on the rotors from sitting undriven. Unless the driveshaft is rubbing the ebrake cables. We have seen that a few times. The trans problem depends, how does the clutch feel? If it feels good and seems to engage and disengage properly then it may be internal. Sometimes the pins in the shift forks get tweaked or the shift forks themselves get bent.
