will be interesting to hear what someone that actually knows would say though. :)
Yeah we are pretty much in agreement that, since I am the only one financially obligated to the bank, I am the only one on the deed for now. I mainly just want some legal documentation on what she has invested in case something were to happen.

just as a heads up to anyone looking for a good real estate closing company or real estate attorney, Matrix Property Settlements handled everything when I bought my last house, and they were excellent, everything went very smoothly

    Couple questions:

What real estate attorney did you end up using?

How much money (%) was saved using the attorney instead of a realty company?

Did the real estate attorney handle the title search or did you go direct to a title company?

What real estate attorney did you end up using?

I have yet to deal directly with a real estate attorney, as I was able to handle everything with the Bank. I still have to square up my girlfriends investment stuff, but that's not too big a deal at the moment

How much money (%) was saved using the attorney instead of a realty company?

I was going to have a friend handle it for me, but she still was looking at 5%, so I ended up saving ~$4,000, but I also volunteered to cover some more of the closing costs from the sellers since we got a good price on the house. All told, I saved about $2,500 bucks. I figured I already knew what house I was buying and I knew the sellers and what they were looking for price wise, so not really any need to pay a realtor to search and negotiate for me.

Did the real estate attorney handle the title search or did you go direct to a title company?[/quote]

The bank contacted the title company and they called me to handle everything. I worked with NationalLink in Coraopolis and they were very easy to deal with. The closing agent/notary came to the house on closing and we were done in 45 minutes.
