    old mallory dist.

Hey old guys like me! I found this old guy at a boneyard and can't find a year or appl. for it. I called mallory and they say it is too old for them to id it! (WHAT) We used these in the late 60's on cars and this is just cool!! I did not see a zip code on the tag so I think it is before 1966. What do you people think.

The cap is good, the wires go thru it and into the plate in the dist.

For sure the blue tag is older Mallory, they went to the red tags sometime in the 60's ... Here is a red tag dual point distributor, late 60's vintage ...

I'm pretty sure this is from a Ford Y block. I have a customized 54 Ford convertible with a 1957Y block and I had a Mallory Mag Spark dist. on it a few years ago. I converted it to electronic and it was always acting up,so I switched to MSD. Ford used Y blocks from 54 thru early 60's in cars and in trucks thru 1964. If the bottom of the shaft is splined, it drives the oil pump and it's a Y block.

in the bottom of the shaft, it has a 6 point hole that a pin or shaft might go into or that goes on the pump.
