Thread: Who has seasonal insurance?

    Who has seasonal insurance?

I am looking (more and more) at Cobra's and have decided if one comes along that I just have to have, that I am going to take the jump back into another Cobra regardless of the fact that I am saving for a house too. So, that means I am just renting now and not a homeowner (not sure if that affects eligibility for this type of auto insurance).

Do any of you have recommendations on seasonal insurance? I have NO problem putting the cobra away for the winter months since it wont have to be my DD and I will have a garage for it.

Thanks in advance for your input...
Looking for another 03/04. PM me if you have one for sale!

I have nationwide, I just call them and tell them that the car is parked for the winter. Saves me Like $100/month. Its parked in my garage.

I have Erie, and have a 3 month layup on both my Capri and the Convertible. The car just needs to be parked three continuous months ... We do ours December, January, and February. Saves some $'s and neither of those would be driven in those months anyway.

My agent said to look at it like a gentlemans agreement, you agree not to use the vehicle for those months and they can charge you less. In reality, the car is still insured as required by PA law.

I have Erie for both my DD and the Wife's car so sticking with them is ideal if the cost is worth it. How much does it save you a year to opt for that plan (vs having it insured regularly)?

Perhaps that was because its going to be easier to find a replacement for a new car as opposed to another 2001 cobra?

I have State Farm and my car is on Seasonal Insurance right now. It went from $71/mo. down to $22/mo. for the 5-6 months it will be sitting. I parked it October 20, prob. get it back out in April.

I don't know the "savings" because both cars went directly on my plan that way, just called my agent and got the price with the layup, never asked the other price since I had no intention of going another route ;)

Forget the seasonal insurance and look into Heacock Insurance. They offer year round collector car insurance (Cobra would qualify) with an agreed value. As long as you have a DD to drive to work you're golden.

    I'm 38 and I have my GT500 valued for $45,000 with $0 deductibles on $100k-$300k coverage for $485 a year!

When I signed up they had a special for Mustang Club of America member's. So you might need to join ... $30

Erie here calls it storage insurance. If you drive it without telling them and something happens to it I don't believe they will cover it. I think it only covers damage in storage. If you tell them and drive it they will charge you for the days you drive it and send you a bill. I had it on my 00 Roush cougar and now on my mach 1. I don't get the stang out until all the antiskid is off the Damn road up here anyways. I would do it for 4 months if they would allow me.

I have ALLSTATE and I drop mine to fire and theft for 6 months a year. Since I have homeowners thru them as well, I'm fully covered to any damage to it as long as it sits on my property. If I want to drive it during those 6 months, I just have to call and leave a message at the office and I'm covered.

With Hagerty, doesn't your have to be parked in a garage and not just parked in your driveway....basically your not allowed to store it outside?

I drop first of Nov and pick back up first of April.. I have full coverage when its on and I was shocked at how cheap it was. I dont have any milage limitations. I considered it cause its even cheaper if you limit the amount of miles you will put on the car.
