And a few guns and dog is a given.

I live in Hopewell in the neighborhood just across the street from that address. It is a very safe and quiet area with no problems at all. The problems in Aliquippa stay down the hill in that immidiate area.

So, for a 24 year old with minimal bills... looking for a house for the sole intention of playing with my cars. is this an OK house? You can see the house via satellite and whatnot... this is for sure temporary. I am only considering this place cuz I don't want to wait 5-10 years to build credit/get my PE license. I want to play with my cars NOW....Good deal?

Like it was said above, Hopewell has the same zip as Aliquippa. Parts of Center may too? Not sure. But still, I think you'd be ok in that area. Personally, I'd look on the other side of Mill Street ( leads from the expressway up to Brodhead. I know for a fact that there are a lot of nice houses in that direction. Do yourself a favor and take an afternoon and drive all around the area - up and down as many streets as you can - and when you're done you'll know if you like what you see enough to live there. You're a minute off of Brodhead which is a minute from the Expressway, so the location is convenient without being too close to the highway.

Buying a house is exciting. But take your time and give yourself as many options as you can. It's a HUGE decision - if you buy the wrong house at the wrong price you can be absolutely SCREWED when the time comes to sell it and move on.

    Good luck!

I live in Center in a plan off of Bunker Hill Rd (Behind the Center Travel Center, right off of 376) but have an Aliquippa mailing address. I wouldn't live in the heart of Aliquippa but if it is one of the outlying towns that share the mailing address it would be fine.

Aliquippa seems like a haul from Ellwood City?? I'd think there would be houses with nice big garages or plenty of room to build a garage up in that area. With the $$ you'd be saving on gas and the time you'd save you'd have more $ and time to spend on your cars... I'm thinking there are other reasons you're looking in this area, but just figured I'd throw that out there.

I wanted something in between Pittsburgh and Ellwood. Never know how long a job will last. Plus I rather enjoy the city. My family lives in South hills. Most of my friends live in the city area, at least the ones I hang out with. Nobody likes coming over to hang out on a Sat or Sunday and then having to drive an hour or more home. I also work saturdays in Oakland.

That makes sense. Good luck house hunting. Rates are low now and it is a buyer's market, so it is as good a time as any to give it a go!

That's a bit too far of a drive for me, but yes the garage is nice.
