one thing I found funny..One salesman came over as I was getting ready to leave asking how did I get my car to look that way..NO swirls in it at all really. Its a black mirror..he was amazed by it and said "we cant let our guys wash it..they will ruin it" I guess they have never seen a properly detailed car before.

If you decide to mod the STi, be careful, they like to self destruct. Coming from people I know who have tracked them, doesn't seem to be as much of a problem on the street.

Lots of people have problems with ringlands supposedly, just relaying what I have seen. Good luck, awesome car.

The STi is an awesome car! One of my best friends was one of the first to get one in PA back in the day (2005 I think it was? the years just blur together anymore!). Just don't fall into the trap of "ZOMG I HAEV TEH AWD AND ITZ TEH Be$t3St eVaR & i CANNOT LOES!!!1!11!!!1!one!!1!!!1111"

After doing some searching and reading..I am kinda iffy about it..seem they still pop bone stock so looks like only thing I will be doing to the car is a cat back exhaust till warranty is out cause I am not taking a chance if it cracks a ringland and paying for a new motor. I will say that if I do blow a ringland under warranty and its stock minus a cat back once its fixed that car will be traded in the next day on something else. if I do keep it long enough for the warranty to run out..I will probably yank the motor and drop in forged stuff and then have some piece of mind.

Get a SPT. That's what I have and I love it! Perfect for daily driving. My only mod is the cat back exhaust and I couldn't be happier!

sure am having some doubts on this move..I dont know if I want to do it..I really like my car and I do like the STi but I dont know if I like it that much..plus going fro a car that sounds like a beast to the sounds of mice farts isnt a plus..Also the fact that it seems like the STi reliability is just plain CRAP and motor will pop stock or not eventually..atleast I wouldnt have to ever worry about that on my mustang

Here's a thought. You don't seem sold on swapping the GT, so keep the stang and find a nice clean '93-'95 SHO with a 5-speed and you'll have a fun, safe, and reliable winter car. You'll only be out of pocket $3k - $5k, and you'll be able to get most of your $ out of the SHO whenever you decide to sell it. That won't happen with the Subie.

sorry but YUCK thats an ugly car..I am not really a ford person except for the 2010+ Mustangs. I Just kinda like my car and did a decent amount of stuff to it and taken a lot of care of it. I dont know why STi>2010 mustang..if it means for power not really a big deal to me as I wouldnt be buying a STi if I wanted power..I would get a new 5.0. I never been to the track and probably never will be..i just putt around and like to tinker.

The only reason I suggested a SHO is because they are AWESOME!!!
A SHO is a great way to have a fun daily driver ( a 5-speed that loves 7k rpms all day and begs for more... ) that will go like a billygoat in the snow, and be responsible ( seats for the kiddies ) and safe at the same time. 4 wheels discs, ABS, great ride, nice handling.. A good-running SHO will outrun a stock fox body Mustang all day, pull mid-20s on the gas mileage, cost very little to insure, and isn't bad for maintenance. Your GT is a sweet car - just trying to find a way to help you keep it and meet your other needs at the same time. There aren't many, if any, other cars out there with comparable performance and capabilities for the price of a SHO. Or maybe there is some other car out there you can pick up cheap for a winter / foul weather beater?? Maybe an older Maxima or something like that?
