Anyone ever used Motor City Solutions?

Carbon fiber doors seem like the ticket when you don't care about budget. Any thoughts? Sure not street legal... but any thoughts on their fitment and capabilities when it comes to door hardware, obviously no power hardware.

I know, I woud never use these without a full cage...

My question is are they a legit company? Will they deliver what they sell... if they still sell.

Considering it for my next build. Full purpose autoX car. Starting off with a full Griggs kit and then going for the most lightening as possible... before touching the engine/trans/rear.

I keep this car for its luxury. A factory LX 5.0 5speed with leather interior, power seats, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, etc... is not something I want to gut. It's too much fun taking on long road trips. Been to Norfolk twice and Daytona in it so far ;)

Thumbs up Yes the parts are good

I work for the company motor city solutions I do not make these parts but have helped test them the carbon fiber and fiberglass doors are very light and durable I am a 295 pound male and have stood on and jumped on these doors and they didn't break I can assure you they produce some of the highest quality parts and the parts are stronger and more lightweight than most competitors.while they are lighter they believe in not sacrificing quality for shaving off weight for speed. They also sell light weight hinge kits for the door and you can see our parts online.now I am in no way representing the company to talk it up because I would not want anyone to feel cheated or used I am. Telling you that in my experience our parts are the best. The doors weigh ball park 10 lbs and under and hoods weight 20 and under I believe I do not know about facias but I can assure you they are made with the same quality as all the other parts. (please excuse my lack of punctuation I am replying via smart phone)

If you care about competition, keep in mind that both the carbon fiber doors and full Griggs kit (not sure which one you want to go with, but the k-member and torque arm are the specific parts I am referencing) put you out of any "street car" autocross class. Even in Street Modified the torque arm is illegal (mounts between subframe connectors, cannot cross connect them for any reason, even installation of a torque arm, dumb rule), the k-member is illegal in SM, and I am not too sure about the doors specifically, but I will check for you and try to edit my post later today, running out the door.

You may not care now, but it really is no fun to have no one to run against, if not in the beginning, in time it will suck.

XP, CP, and some other classes. Problem is the car wouldn't be competitive in any of them if you want to maintain any semblance of streetability.

Let me rephrase what mark said, with those mods you will be racing in a class with tube chassis go-carts powered by small block chevys or multiple 2stroke snowmobile motors..fyi
New combo going in 410w, tea225 high ports solid roller, novi2000, glens fuel system, pa
Supercomp c4, some other things, hoping to run 10's...update 10.50@120 on 8 burned pistons...hoping to run 9's no cage in sight

Well, wasn't really considering racing in classes but what Mark said about not having competition I'm rethinking some things. Was reading the class rules today.

Honestly, if I were you, I would stay in ESP or go to SM. Steeda five-link, or the Evolution Motorsport Tri-link (if you can find one) are both legal in the classes, and you will likely have someone to run against. The rear suspension is the most important thing to change on the 79-04's, by far. A simple H+R race spring/Koni shock combo can be very fast one the factory four link is scrapped. Both are very fast classes, but there is usually someone that is in something reasonable in both. Basically (I am really oversimplifying here), ESP is bolt-ons engine wise, SM is wide open on engine, very similar suspension wise (a few other parts are allowed in SM than ESP). In ESP you can change the intake manifold, exhaust, that's about it.

That all being said, the fox body Mustang IMO cannot be made to be competitive on any real scale in autocross (except for freak show CP gutted race cars on real slicks). Locally at some events, yes, but if this is what you want to do, just bring what you have and have fun. A Civic on street tires is going to beat you by 3 seconds. Unfortunate, but that is autocross.

Not a fan of Steeda after seeing their subframe products (an old member/best friend bought them and they are tiny... literally like a quarter of the size of MM subframes... which is what I have on the LX... and have never scraped). Wasn't really wanting to race in any class, but just have fun with the car. Considering the full Griggs still and just keeping it a fun street car(ditch the door idea).

Never have been a fan of Steeda, but the five-link is a high quality piece, and pretty much the only option out there that can be legal in ESP and SM. Pretty much everything else they make is junk, but I really like the five-link, have installed a couple, and driven a couple different Mustangs with them, works very well. This car has stock front suspension, Koni DAs with 475 front coilovers, Maximum Motorsports rear torque arm springs on MM control arms, and a Steeda five link. Local racer..

As you can tell from the video, the car puts it's mid 400 rwhp on a MD down very well considering. I actually thought the forward bite with the 3 link/panhard bar my car had put down power better than the car in the video driving both back to back, but prefer the Steeda setup, much less axle hop under braking, and I liked how the 5 link installed much better than the Evolution Motorsports piece. Pricey though, but then again Griggs shit starts at 2500 for a basic setup and goes to almost 8 grand.

Only 8 grand? I think their best kits are like 11... maybe that's cuz of the economy. Then again their website hasn't been updated in forever. Was almost thinking they stopped selling.

I guess I should google it... but where on the body does a 5-link attach besides the two lower control arms?
