    New Cobra Build

It's been probably a good 10 years since I've done anything that would constitute a "build thread" so I figured I'd throw up some pics of what I'm working on. Here's a couple pics from the old owner...

And a couple of it in the garage with my old car(which is unfortunately gone now)

It already had a ton of work done to it, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted so I decided to tear into it a little bit. Took off the polished KB 2.2.

I'm in the process of selling that and should have a 2.3 whipple here in a couple weeks. Got the first round of new parts in today. 80lb injectors and a couple Division X 340lph pumps.

So I'm obviously beefing up the fuel system a little bit. I'm hoping this will be enough for E85, but I guess we'll see. The car has tons of other mods already. Crower stage II cams, kooks 1 3/4" headers backed by a full 3" exhaust. The tranny and IRS have been beefed up too. Supposedly it put down 673 with the KB at 19 PSI on 93, so it should be interesting to see what it'll crank out with the whipple at 24 PSI on E85 I'm telling myself that I'll be happy with anything over 700, but I'd really like to see 750 and I think it should be possible.

Going to be dropping the tank soon to see what I'm dealing with there. I expect it to be the stock fuel hat which I plan on modifying to fit these new pumps and also adding a couple wires in order to run dual FPDM's. That whole process scares me a bit, but I'm just gonna take my time and hopefully everything goes as planned.

Thanks I'm glad I took advantage of the opportunity to get a pic of both of them in the garage. I like the FR500's too, but I've always had a hard on for the black chrome FR500's so it may look like this very soon

Cool ray, I wish I still had my termy now because I'd buy that polished 2.2 off you in a heartbeat. Thats the exact blower I wanted. Love that old school whine. I should get it for a future build! Looks like it will be a bad ass car

i like the black chrome wheels....

I went down to WV and helped Ray bring this car back, and its one awesome sounding car... i felt like it didn't have that traditional cobra sound that they all have - very unique - very badass... no doubt it'll make the desired power with the Whipple...

The FR's that are on it now look good on the silver, but black chrome should look good too.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

Took advantage of the warm weather a little bit last night. Put in the new 80lb injectors and dropped the tank. I was thinking about modifying the stock fuel hat, but I think I'm going to go ahead and buy one of the new Fore hats. They look so cool, it's such a shame that it'll never be seen.

Well the whipple shipped out today so hopefully it's warm next weekend and I can get it put on the car. I need to get a new 4 1/2" silicone coupler for the throttle body, anyone know a good place to buy one?

Also got some new rubber in this week. 305/35/18 Toyo R888's. Supposedly they're like DR's you can run in the rain. I guess we'll see how well they hook up.

Here they are stacked next to some old 275 MT radials I had in the garage.

Hopefully that'll work for the throttle body to intake coupling.

I've heard real good things about those tires. A guy on eBay was selling brand new sets in 335/30/18 for $325 a pair, almost bought a set but he sold out before I could. Pretty sure when I was reading up on them a guy on SVTP said he ran 1.6 60's with them.

Yeah, for some reason there are a TON of good deals that pop up for 335's. I've seen very few for 305's or 315's though. I got these brand new for $550 shipped which isn't too bad, but still not nearly as good as some of the deals on 335's. Unfortunately I don't think there's any way I can cram a 335 on my 18 x 10's. This is a pretty good deal on Toyo RA1's, $360 shipped for two 335/30/18's... http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-NEW-335-30...item460104fc6d. I've been trolling ebay a lot lately waiting for a deal to pop up, but I haven't seen any great deals in the sizes I need. Let me know if you happen to see any 305's or 315's for a good deal. I'll buy them and store em until I need them.

Yeah, it's not quite as bad as it looks in those pics, but it could use some cleaning.

I'm hoping to have it on the car pretty soon. Just need to decide if I want to paint the cam covers black before I put it on the engine. The blue looks cool, but I think black would match a lot better.

If you go black on the cam covers go with powdercoating. The car looks too nice not to do it right.
