    School me on valve springs...

302-306 basic rebuild not going for crazy compression maybe slightly more than stock..

cams im looking at are along the lines of a 545-550lift intake and 555-565 lift exhaust with a 110-112 lobe sep

    heads....going cheap..i know i know... lol
either gt40's or gt40p's so about the same both with 1.6 rockers.

basic aftermarkey efi intake and usual other supporting mods...

So what kinda springs should i be looking at? I would like to take it to 6k rpm maybe slight more.

AFM high rev's with steel locks and retainers? I dont think ill need titanium bits for the locks and such
Maybe some other brand dual springs?

I just want someting that will last and i wont have to worry about float above 6k rpm but below 6500 of course. So let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks, Vince

I had AFM's hi-rev valvesprings with steel retainers and locks, never had any issue spinning the motor to 7200 (N91 cam). Not sure if they will be perfect for the specific cam you use, but they worked fine for me.

Sorry, I should have posted that!

302 stock short block, notched stock hyper pistons (under 9:1 compression)
TFS Twisted Wedge heads, valves as delivered, mild port work
N91 cam, AFM springs, retainers and locks I had laying around, Trick Flow pushrods
    Victor Jr., Holley 750 DP
    1 3/4 headers, 3" exhaust

Made 347@6600 on a dynojet, can't remember the torque but it was obviously pretty pathetic. Car was quick but useless for hillclimbs, had to keep it above 4500, which was tough even with 4.10s. Shifted it around 6800-7200.

As Adam is alluding to...buy a cam to match your heads...buy springs to match your cam..with mild heads you need mild cam which requires mild springs

I know that would be more ideal...and that cam may be a bit big, but ill be going with aluminum heads come winter. So i was going to kill a step in the process....right now the cam im looking at,which is used, is cheap...but its got about the specs i want. Ill post them up in a bit.

Yeah, put up some specs. My car ran pretty well when it had P heads with an N41 (218/226, .512/.512, I think).
