    H&R: Race or Sport springs?

Thinking about getting my ride a little closer to Earf, if you know what I mean.

H&R lists both the Race and the Sport springs at the same lowering number, 1.6"F/1.5" R.

Any of you guys have any opinion on which one would be better or worse for cruising? I'm guessing the Race has a little stiffer rate??

I also know guys tend to run them without isolators to get a little lower but, given where I live, I can say goodbye to my chin spoiler if I go too low.

    Thoughts?

Also, if anyone just happen to know of any that fell of the back of the truck, LMK.

I had sports on my 98 and it completly changed my car. better ride quality and obviously no more baja look. I left the isos in just replaced them with some prothane pieces. Can't say much about the race springs, but ive heard they work well on the terminators well too!

Considering the Terminators came with 600 lb. springs (coupes) from the factory, I would go with the Race's. I think they are around 800 lb/in, the Sports would give close to stock ride quality though, probably around 650 lb/in. Edit: See below for rates...

    H&R Cobra Coupe 700-760 685 (IRS)
H&R Cobra Vert Super Sport 700-760 685 (IRS)
    H&R Race 750-850 260-280 1.25 1.00
    H&R Sport 490-575 250-285 1.60 1.50
    H&R Super Race 950-1050 260-300 1.25 1.25
    H&R Super Sport Coupe 51652-77 700-760 275-300 1.75 1.60
    H&R Super Sports Vert 51658-77 700-760? 275-300? 2 1.6

If you look through my old posts there is pics of my car lowered with H&R race springs, no iso's front or rear. on 18's. Loved the way they felt on the car. handled great and settled really nice going over dips in the road.

Anybody still have some lowering springs they'd like to sell? If not best advice for me? I also was gonna go with the H&R's so that's next for me but figured i'd ask first before buying em off American Muscle or somewhere

Do you still have the IRS in your Cobra? I would be interested in the stock rear springs if you switch them.

H&R race with isolators, no issues with them, always heard good things on svtperformance about them. It is about as low as I can go (at least with my driving style and places I go) and still not really worry about where I pull in but still have to be careful.

Wow that's looks great! How far did it end up lowering? 1" in the front/ 1.5" in the rear?

About how hard is the installation? Is doable by myself being a mediocre mechanic or would I have to take it somewhere since I have the IRS?

IRS is simple. The front will be more of a PIA.

Just installed a set of h&r race springs on my buddies 04 Mystic Chrome. Was super easy hardest part was getting the exhaust off.

That with only the top isolators installed

You will love them, I used to have them on mine. I was running the race. with no iso's. Car handled really good and didnt even ride like alot of lowered cars.

As for dropping the exhaust. All you have to do is take the very back rear bolts out, where the tips are. The exhaust will drop far enough to take the springs out. Its where the exhaust bolts to the car, near the rear bumper.

Whole job took me 3 hours and I was by no means rushing.
