Question Blue '04 GT s/c on ebay

Is this Vortec a decent s/c? Is this a SCS member's car?

Obviously, there's no intercooler. As far as bottom-end safety, do you need an intercooler with a centrifugal s/c? I know a lower intake temp would make more power, but as long as the a/f is around 12:1 or lower, would you guys be afraid of this thing with the miles?

Is that the square piece that I've seen in between the s/c and t/b? How exactly does an aftercooler work? Do you run a rad hose through it or what?
