If the paint is just peeling theres not a real need to have it soda blasted, it could just be sanded down with a da sander and then prepped as usual.

I want to do it right, it needs blasted. The shop that is going to shoot the paint told me it needs done and I trust the guy. Old timer hot rod guy, he did the work after I got hit and did amazing work.

I stopped there last summer and talked to George. He said they were on a 6-8 month back order. He said he would call me later that week to squeeze me in and never did. That was last summer. I'd give him a call again this week and tell him I need this done the shop still has the paint.

I'd hope he could squeeze in a hood - should only take him 30 minutes at most. But I hear ya - lots of shops are lacking when it comes to customer service... Good luck!

Hell, at the way the paint is flaking, you can probably get most of it off with a plastic razor blade and/or some sanding.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

Soda blasting would be a waste of your money IMO. Like previously mentioned, a good DA will get the job done. Personally, I would put the money you were ready to drop on the soda blasting and put it towards an aftermarket hood.

I worked at a chrysler body shop in the early-mid 90s when their paint was falling off all the top surfaces of their cars. We special ordered 6 inch wide duct tape, coated the top surfaces with it and pulled, whatever didnt come off we sanded and prepped as usual. if they soda blasted all that they would have been bankrupt then. From what the pictures looked like it looked like clearcoat delamination, no real need to take it down to bare.

I'm just going with what I was told needed done. Thanks for the advice I think I might just sand it and be done with it. Just want it to turn out perfect, don't mind putting the time in.

Don't really have the funds for a new hood, and the only hood I like would be a Mach 1 with the shaker. My big expense is wheels and tires and small stuff right now for summer.
