Also, a stick just beats the hell out of the rest of the drivetrain/car when racing. An auto not so much.

that is one of the reasons there will be an auto in my coupe it allows me to run "smaller" parts like the rear and diff so they live longer , clutch dumping is hard on them

If you "powder" the clutch it will help the rest of the driveline.

I spent almost 3 months swapping the auto out of my old GT and putting in a 5spd. Pain in the ass, but thats HOW BAD i wanted a stick. Eventually ditched it for a 5spd Mach 1

Go with a stick, how often do you even race? if your like me and just love to punch it around town with the once in a while track appearance; go with the manual.

Been having this argument with myself over the past couple of months... I'm in the process of building a 33 Ford Truck thats being built with intentions of being a street/strip vehicle (in that order). To me, 100 times out of 100 I would prefer a stick over in auto if it was in a "toy", but the durability and consistency of an auto is hard to beat. After initially thinking stick I changed my mind to a built auto.... However, about a week ago I'm back to the 4-speed and sticking to it! I know I would be disappointed if I went with anything else...
