pulling my motor from my 88 gt

OK any know if its a hard project to pull a motor from a 88 fox. I'm pulling my motor so i can paint the block and the bay. I'm also planning on smoothing the fender wells .and also cover the holes where the fender well intake would do. Any info would greatly appreciated thanks

its not real difficult...quite easy to be honest.....the wiring harness can flip over and be held down on the windshield by a wiper and disconnect the exhaust and tranny along with the hoses and take out the fan n shroud....pretty much it....

Well, what other motors have you pulled?

Last one I pulled we took the motor and tranny out of the top together, wasn't that hard. Had the front of the car about a foot off the ground.

Pulling the motor and getting the engine bay cleaned/prepped is easily an evening job.

Make sure when pulling, the front of the puller isn't in contact with the bumper cover if the handle faces the car. Ask me how I know.

I don't know shit about pulling a motor and I could probably pull a 5.0 out of a fox in a couple hours.

That wasn't meant to be a shot at you, just saying that it's relatively easy and straightforward.

Do you have the tool to disconnect the fuel lines?

Try to relieve the fuel pressure too, I think the shrader valve on the rail will do the trick.

That is the only 'special tool' required that I can think of.

I also found this online, may be helpful if you never pulled one before.

I have pulled about 10 of these, sometimes with the tranny connected, sometimes, just the motor,
I prefer to pull/replace the motor and tranny out together, less crawling on the ground later.

With the right tools, space and a engine hoist it shouldn't be bad. Extra set of hands would be best.

O its kool man . I just don't know much at all when it comes to motors and things like that. But it was a stereo and some interior I would be in great shape.

I think pulling an engine is easier than installing a stereo. Different skill set, but not harder skill wise. Just take your time, put bolts in plastic bags that are labeled until you know what each one is (after a few times you will), take your time and you will be fine. Take pictures of each step if it helps you as well.
