Just curious if anyone had experience with their car. I've always had full CAI's not just a drop in so I wasn't sure about people's experiences.

I had a power gain.
I had a fuel economy gain.
I had both a power gain and a fuel economy gain.
Waste of money.

I put one in my duramax because I wasnt buying a whole CAI for my truck. Im not sure what kind of results you will get with your poll because most of the people buying the stock replacement K&N's aren't too worried about testing for HP and fuel gains and the increased fuel economy and power are to small to say you had a difference (though Im sure you would have one). IMO unless someone is building a combo H/C/I , power adder ect I would just do a stock replacement. The extra cost is saved in buying the filter once and just cleaning it rather then buy other paper filters.
Several years ago, I tried a little experiment with K&N filters vs a paper NAPA filter in my 98 Z. I saw no difference in mileage at all. I also tried at the track to see if the was any difference there. I did 3 runs each of a K&N drop in filter, 3 runs with a paper filter & 3 runs with no filter. The car was pretty consistent to begin with & I saw no noticable change, especially in MPH, doing this. When people ask me about K&N air filters, I always tell them to save their money & do something worthwhile.

My opinion, save your money for a cai, or buy a drop in if you can find one for a good price used or something
Did any of you that put in the drop in re-set your system? I always take the battery cable off and let it reset to the new filter I have seen better fuel milage in both of my cars/ trucks the Ford Fusion and Superduty. The trick of resetting the computer is then the system re calibrates to the extra air that the K&N lets in. If you don't do it it would be a waist of time & money. My opinion...

I never noticed anything. Even with a CAI I never really felt a big difference.
Is there a silencer you can yank out of there to increase flow?
In my opinion the drop in K&N's are good for not having to buy filters over and over, that's about it. The potential drawback is the filter oil coating the MAF, which never happened to me but some guys claim it occurs for them.
I'm done with CAI's. Have one on our 08 V6 with a tune and it improved it slightly, my thoughts are the tune has more to do with it. Aluminum driveshaft and gears were money better spent. Had a CAI on my 05 F150, took it off when I traded it in and hardly noticed any difference after removing it. With the higher efficiency and power these newer motors make it's tough to notice a single digit % increase in power these filters/CAI's give you.
I'd rather have a tuner to play with shift points, eliminate lag, etc.

That sucks about the coon, those heavy bastids can really leave a mark.

yep it left a mark, a $1000 mark. Thank goodness for a $100.00 deductible.
You're right. I'm getting im a tuner first, then gears and maybe exhaust after that.
