    Summer project

So on Saturday night i was taunted by a 2012 Durango R/T at a red light in Bridgeville. So when the next red light came up i punched it and when it shifted to second it felt weird, so i let out and gave up on a race i was probably gonna not win anyways. So after i stopped i put it down in first and tried to go, first gear is toast. This has sparked a new project for me. Starting this June.

I enjoy the car too much to let it go. So it needs to be built.

    Plans for the motor are:
    -PI Heads
    -Possibly porting
    -Possibly new valves
    -Comp Cams XE270AH
    -Comp valve springs
    -Injectors?
    -PI Intake
    -Throttle body
    -Plenum

    Other plans:
    -Swap in a 5 speed
Along with the swap, probably a clutch upgrade above stock.
    -O/R X-Pipe
    -Lts
    -Tuner
    -Lowering springs

I have the general idea of what ill need and what i am getting into.
But any info on what else I'm missing and what else i should cover while I'm doing it would be great.

Im going to try and take my car to street lethal for the 5 speed swap and get the head work done while its there.

Pretty excited for this to come together.

This is the car that's going to be getting worked on.

Ill be adding pictures as parts start coming in and i start putting stuff together.

    Thanks,
    Shawn

I'm not trying to be mean here. Just giving a suggestion. If you sold this car(even very cheap) and put the money you would have in parts and labor for the project. You could buy a new edge with the same performance and have a newer mustang and more than likely in better shape too. Plus be able to cruise this summer. Like I said thats JMHO.

I dont, i dont like the new edge cars as much as i like the 94-98 cars. And if i were to sell the car i wouldn't get much more than 2500, if that, for a car with high miles, a different engine, a bad trans, and shotty paint. And of course it needs two or three small things fixed. I actually have thought about doing the head/cam install myself, with the help of my dad, to cut down on costs of labor, and i would like to have a project to learn on. But will be sending it somewhere for the 5 speed swap. These plans will be decided after graduating, decided by how much i have saved up by then. Thanks for the insight though, if a new edge comes up in the total price range im looking at i might bite at it. but i really like the sn95s.

The best look for the 94-98's is the S281 kit, always been a big fan of those.

Good luck with the build! I'm local, as you know, if you need a hand wrenching sometime and I am around.

you could probably pick up a wrecked 5spd gt or a decent rotted out one and do a complete swap of parts...plus you would have extra parts incase one breaks....and you would have all your wiring and sensors you will need plus extras

You could always make it look like this one (: ...This along with dans cobra are def my favorite 2 stangs of this bodystyle at the moment. I could picture dans cobra with the widebody setup in the rear (: Red looks really good on this bodystyle.

On that red one I don't like the front bumper, hood, headlights, or the look of the back wheels but I like the way it sits. Was that your car, or sarcasm? Haha.

Yeah, I love that red 95' but my cars a long ways off from that. Though, if I saw that red car you posted in person I'd probably like it a lot more. I just don't see how you could put a bumper with sharp lines on such a smooth body car. On the new edge cars it works a lot better with the headlights and fenders. But well see where the project goes.

I agree, the most body change I would make on my car would be a cobra front bumper, and an s281 wing. That's all. But that's factory stuff.

Honest question...could you just put a blower on it and make the same/more power than doing the heads and all that other stuff? I know the Vortech/Paxton kits have really come down in price.

So you think you can handle a head/cam swap on an OHC motor but can't do the simplest mechanical job out there, a 5 speed swap on a SN95? Doesn't make sense.

If it were me I wouldn't bother dropping near a grand on cams, just swap the heads/intake as cheap as possible (I am sure the PI stuff is cheap) and if you need more than that do the blower. IMO it is a waste trying to get power out of a 4.6 NA with all the other options out there. Or just boost what you have.

Nice to see something different. Seems like most guys (including myself) do the same mods. I.E grill delete, Mach chin spoiler. Props to the guy, just not really my style.

My only input, don't get in over your head. I have big plans for mine but also know my skill level, money and goals.

Honestly, by myself, no. With help of my dad, yes, he does things like this all the time, being a mechanic and all. And doing the head swap would be easier for me to do with the area I have to work in, not so much with the transmission. And boost is way expensive. More than what I want to spend anyways.

That red car is nice, but the rear wheels look silly, could just be the picture though.
