03-04 Cobra supercharger on a 99

One of my buddies up here has a 99 cobra and he's toying with forced induction. He was thinking of going with a turbo kit but (and brace yourself for this) I suggested that trying to find a stock supercharger from a cobra might be a better route (yes, mr. turbo suggested a supercharger- and the flyers beat the penguins- 2012 is the end of the world but I digress).

I'm curious what the major parts are to this and what they might typically go for on the used market? Besides the stock supercharger itself and the charge cooler are there any other major parts needed? What kind of price is someone looking at to try this swap?

If this is the route he wants to go, then i have the stock Eaton i'll sell him pretty cheap. The blower only has 22,000 miles on it.

There was just a thread on this a couple weeks ago... As far as I know you need at least all of the S/C parts, the front timing cover, the pulley bridge, the upper and lower intake/intercooler, heat exchanger, intercooler reservoir, and prob. some other odds n ends.

I'd recommend checking out SVTPerformance.com forums, there are a lot of people who have done this swap.

I would vote for the turbo or just sell the car and buy an 03. You'll end up spending a lot of time doing research and chasing parts when you could just buy a cheap turbo kit( http://www.on3performance.com/mustang4v.html ) and be done with it

Thanks for the feedback. I figured since I'll be in the 'burg late aug/early september that I could take advantage of the increased duty free limit and bring back some parts for him, but if its cheaper and/or less hassle to go with an alternate route I'll let him know.
