    On the Dyno Today

Here's some runs I made on the dyno today. I went with a buddy who has a civic Si with the new K24. He was quite pleased that he put down 180/150 hp/tq. I couldn't believe it and with how light it is he can almost hang with me.

Anyway, here's some dyno runs: 1st run I'm not posting. It was a 4th gear pull and I hit the speed limiter before I ran out of RPMs. All other runs were 3rd gear pulls, sometimes with only a few minutes between them, no fan blowing on front of car. Numbers seem consistent with what I see on the internet for bone stock cars.

    1st Pull

    2nd Pull

3rd Pull - The civic gained a tiny bit of power by opening the airbox, so I gave it a shot. No gain for me

4th Pull - This time I put a K&N drop in filter to see what would happen (I know, I know, but I was curious). It does seem to flow better as you'll see in some graphs below. Anyway, here's the drop in by itself:

And now, a combination graph of the K&N versus the 1st and 2nd stock pulls, respectively. Notice how there is a distinct torque increase between 3800 and 6k due to what I'm guessing would be better flow, but torque suffers down low:

It was a lot of fun at the dyno and brought back memories of the SRT. This dyno was spot on too. The back to back stock runs in the civic were within 1.5/1.5 hp/tq and mine weren't too far off that.

LOL did it really? What were the numbers on them?

I have to say I was fairly happy. I was hoping for 260 to the wheels but I think I bailed out of the dyno a little too early. I still pulled about 70+/70+ over the civic but he also has something like a 200+kg advantage over me. On the way to the dyno we did a quick burst from about 50km/h (35 mph). He had the advantage of a draft as he was behind me but I could only pull away ever so slowly

Nice numbers. That's a really sharp car you have there!

    When do the turboS arrive?
2014 GT Premium - Sterling Gray Metallic - MT82 - Track Pack - Glass Roof - Recaro seats - Spoiler delete
12.76 @ 114.04 bone stock. Koni yellow coil-overs, BMR watts, LCA and LCA relo brackets, Borla S-type axle back.

1966 Coupe - 331 stroker - Bullet custom roller cam - cam and motor installed and dyno tuned by Rodeheavers Hot Rod - Astro A5 - McLeod RXT - 486 to the wheels - more fun than my little tires can handle

1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - currently NOT on jackstands

Thanks! Although I was hoping for less drivetrain loss, you really cant complain about that number to the ground especially for a 3.7l v6 bone stock.

The turboS might be arriving sooner than I originally thought. I'll have to take an engine bay shot of the car to explain why. You know how on the 99-04's there's like no room between the motor and the shock tower? Yeah, no worries there mate... PLENTY of room for a turbo on each side.

The only thing that worries me is that while the crank and rods are forged, the pistons are cast aluminum. I wouldn't feel safe pushing much more than 5-7 lbs of boost on those stockers. I need to research some more on the similarities/differences between their 3.7 NA and their 3.5 ecoboosted TT.

It all comes down to the question: "How soon do I want to void my warranty?" :)

Hmm.. something I just noticed. The SAE correction factor is 0.99 due to ambient conditions. So if you look at "uncorrected" numbers, the best power number was 257.54 with best torque being 237.92

Thought I'd post this graphic too of a zoom in of the air fuel for the 3 key runs. Red and blue are the stock runs, green is stock with K&N drop in.

Notice how relatively high the fuel ratio is! I'm uncertain how SCT manages to squeeze another 10hp out of her on 91 octane.

Wow!! that is sick!! basically boltons plus a supercharger and supporting mods. I knew a few with superchargers were in the low 12's, but not low 11s!!!

Why do you show me these things? lol..

You do know this is the "4cyl Turbo / V6 power adder" section right? So either get with "bolting on" or GTFO

LOL, nice numbers out of those things for sure.
