    Brake Help...

Im currently replacing the brakes on my 2010 mustang and on the rears it appears from what i have read that u need a special tool to turn the brake piston to compress it, it cant be done the like the fronts...does anyone know of an easier way to compress it or have the tool i can borrow? cause im just trying to turn it with a pair of channel locks and its getting frustrating...

Needle nose pliers. Turn it while you are pushing it in.

Just go buy the tool at like advanced auto or the like. I bought the one that looks like a cube that has different sizes on each side, it was maybe $10 if I remember right. Way easier then using channel locks.

I used the tool on my olds but when I totaled it I think its still in the trunk. I got it at advanced for like $7. I'll look in the garage tomorrow to see if I find it and let you know. It was also the one that looked like a cube.

turning it alone wont do anything you have to PUSH and turn. try needle nose pliers and push!!

get back out there and get them done!! lol once you see how easy it is to push them in you'll be done in no time!

I just did the rears on my car (with the cube tool) mine seem to take a lot of effort to turn so I doubt a pair of needle nose pliers would have worked.

Well your fighting to try and keep the tool and caliper aligned and twist, the tool set I'm sure would work 100x better

Tom, you can rent the caliper tool set at Autozone or if you want to try the cube I have one you can borrow.

I know EXACTLY what your going through. I did my rears about a month ago. It was so freaking frustrating trying to get that piston to go back in at first. I thought the piston had seized up and that I would have to buy a new caliber. The cube wasnt working for crap. As some others stated buy the brake caliber tool from Harbor Freight (probably the cheapest place to buy it) or rent it and it'll go right back in.

The bonus for you with our gravity race track is that you won't need brakes ....
