What type of suspension do you think is the best?

I'm planning on completely tearing apart my chevelle soon and want to replace the horrible stock four-link, coil spring set-up that is so similar to mustangs.

Instead, I was thinking coil-overs, watts-link, and parallel upper and lower control arms(to get rid of that bind). Up front do coilovers and better control arms in the SLA set-up. Not to mention all the misc pieces like sway bars. This includes replacing the stock rear crossmember and putting in a crossmember more suited for whatever suspension type I decide to go with.

Any thoughts or ideas of a better suspension set-up. I don't want a torque arm and a panhard is not as good as a watts imo.

what are you trying to do with the car? more handling or straightline?

Take a look at Global West Suspension. I have a bunch of their stuff on my '66 Mustang and love all of it - from the front UCAs coils and sway bar to the subframe connectors to the rear leafs and Del-Alum leaf bushings.

Handling. Kinda along pro touring lines. I don't like the stock 4-link because of the way the upper control arms are... just like on a fox. That's why I'm considering chopping into the frame and setting it up with a watts link and parallel control arms.

I posted to get thoughts on other suspension set-ups that put the stock 4-link/coil spring to shame.

I've already got Hotchkiss sway bars, upper and lower control arms in the rear, 2 inch drop spindles, 4 wheel power disc, Hotchkiss 1 inch drop springs, and global west upper and lower front control arms. Also some crappy KYB shocks.

I've got quite a bit of unsprung mass using a Dana-60 rear end. That I think will get different gears(go from 4.11 down to something smaller) and replace the Detroit Locker with a Posi unit. It's got Strange S/S 36 spline floating axles, also. No c clips here.

Here's what a member on TeamChevelle did with his 70. Cut out the rear cross-member that had coil pockets on it, and fabbed up some new ones to go with parallel control arms and a watts link crossmember. Not to mention custom trans member, boxed rails, and webbing.
