    Interior detailing....how much??

I just did a Highlander for a friend........it...was...bad!! Removed the seats, scrubbed the carpets, seats, everything. There was enough crap in this thing to feed army, money stuck in gum and ground into the carpet, mice had Cheerios stashed in the rear storage area, found poison that was used to try to kill the mouse.....ugh.

How much would you charge for a job like this?? Local interior detailers I called are getting $125 for an interior detail but I bet this does not include pulling the seats and hazmat fees!

I want to be fair but she has the means to pay nicely. So, what would be full price and what would be the friend price???

I usually go based on the severity of the interior and how clean they want it (I.E. full carpet shampoo or just vac, etc.)

For friends I usually charge 40-60 for full vaccuum and wipedown, add $20 for shampooing, so, 60-80 is the neighborhood I would be in. Any joe off the street and I'd be in the 80-100 range because interiors are usually more time consuming than the outside, also depending on how clean they want it.

When people have a pigged out interior, it's easy to justify paying the price when they see how clean it becomes!

I had about 3 hours into this one and charged $40 since it was a new (8 months) vehicle so no shampooing was involed. Just an explosion of a golden retreiver!

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

I had nearly seven hours in this one. Should have taken pics...you would not have believed it. It ended up in very good condition.

Ain't no way a long haired dog would ever see the interior of one of my vehicles.

Yeah my girl is trying to persuade me to let the dog into the Cobra... Yeah, paw prints and dark brown fur all over the suede, would you like me to lose my mind?!?!?

I feel for ya man....you haven't lived until you have found diapers full of poo or how about actual maggots!!!!!! Yes I have seen/removed both from cars. I work at a detail shop on the side and have seen it all. Even fixed a stuck seat by removing all the built up gunk and gum jammed in the seat tracks. We would prolly charge around $75 for the job you did. We do have a lil bit of an advantage though, we have an industrial car shampooer that helps a lot. Holds 10 gallons of hot water mixed with detergent. It gets almost everything out and brings people back.

The shampooer made the maggots tolerable(almost....still committed once when cleaning and Anne time cleaning the shampooer.

Yep - you definitely need a pickup with a cap or a family truckster if you want to take dogs anywhere...at least dogs that shed. In the truck, I open up the cabin windows and the rear slider, open up the cap front slider, and both screened side windows. The dogs love it! No hair gets into the cabin, and as long as you're moving along at all, the dogs don't get too warm even on super hot days.

You just have to be riding with someone who doesn't mind rolling down the highway with the windows down...

Been there many times with horror detail jobs. Kids and dogs make for very interesting and time consuming jobs. Some of the worst ones I have run into are dealing with people that get pick up trucks with light colored cloth interiors. Did a silveraldo the other day that was a light tan interior that was black with dirt and I'm not kidding. Many hours later it was tan again after alot of scrubbing :)

I always wondered how people can make money detailing cars, seems cheap for the labor involved. I guess if you banged a few out a day it would be decent, but then you would have that chinese disease all afternoon and evening.

Once you get a routine down you can work faster and end up making money on it. It's just about working efficiently.

Yeah I've just been putting my stuff on Facebook and word of mouth has kept me busy every weekend for the past month and a half.

Amazing that I found a legitimate use for Facebook.
