    Buy a wrecked 5.0 and start swapping. It would be super easy to swap in a carb.

    You def. need to google it. There is a ton of stuff to do, too much to write a step by step tutorial on here. Also need a basic idea of where everything is located in the 5 liter car. You would be miles ahead to buy a lightly wrecked GT and swap parts over. You can see where everything goes and all the parts needed will be at your fingertips.

    Vital just went down this route and severely regrets not buying a complete wrecked 5.0.

    I've done several engine swap along the lines of what you want to do.....getting a donor vehicle w/ a complete driveline is the best way to do it. It will have a lot of lines anad stuff that you don't think about when you start a swap.

    I'd still keep the donor car an option. You WILL be overwhelmed when you start buying misc. parts that are 5.0 specific.

    Here is one of many posts from the corral;

    I believe the 1984's had the 7.5" rear axle. Don't know how long that will live with a stout 5.0L.

    Then why not take the time and do the 4banger and turbo? Would give you practice on an inexpensive car to learn what is a very popular power adder these days.
