gt 500 supercharger whipple vs kenne bell

2008 gt500. what are the pros/cons of using one of the ford racing whipple superchargers over the kenne bell and vice versa?

    Whipple 2.9 fits under hood

KB 2.8 requires cutting hood or new motor mounts but some claim they didn't have to do either with KB even though the kit says you will need to trim hood.

Whipple 3.4 and KB 3.6 will both need new hoods and or lowering motor mounts.

Lots including myself like the FRPP TVS. The TVS has no clearance issues and makes more low end torque but requires to spin faster to make some HP as the bigger boys.

SS would be cool and more collectible down the road but geez that's a lot of money!! You can achieve the same performance at a fraction of the cost of a SS conversion .... But it's all in what you want!

Bingo! Wish Russ could talk to my customer about his experience with Shelby and his SS upgrade! What a joke...

I'm running a whipple 2.9 with a 3.0 pulley. The TVS 2300 is also an amazing blower, as it has a good bit of low end torque, but up top it has a harder time keeping up with the larger blowers, especially when the larger blowers will spin effortlessly at 18-20psi, where the TVS 2300, starts to get tapped out around 18psi.

Don't get me wrong the TVS will spin to 20-22 psi, but it's generating an immense amount of heat and it won't do it on 93 octane.

If your goal is to be just around 650-680rwhp, you can't go wrong with the TVS. Especially now since the 2013 TVS 2300 supercharger is out, which is leaps and bounds better than the previous FRPP offering, as it has a lot of the features from the VMP TVS which still retails for $3500.

VMP also sells a 2.4" upper pulley for the 2013 TVS 2300 found on the new GT500.

If you feel you want to head into the 700-800s of HP, I'd go Whipple 2.9 if you do not want to lower the engine or run a different hood, The KB 2.8LC is another good option but it requires clearancing.

Since it is a 2008, I'd look into 72lb injectors and a dual boost a pump, or upgrading both pumps. The 2011-2013's can get away with just an injector upgrade at the 750-775hp range due to being able to drive the dual pumps at a higher voltage through the tune/fpdm.

If you do go TVS, go with the new 2013 OEM TVS, ya it says 5.8L on it, but it has a ported inlet, and a revised elbow vs. the previous FRPP TVS which costs around $2600-2700.
