    Anyone mountain bike??

I know this is a little off topic, but its the closest thread I could find. Does anyone here get into mountain biking? I dont mean like buying a bike from walmart and going down a dirt road, I mean serious off road mountain biking. lol I have a 2004 Gary Fisher CAke 2 Dlx. It has bontrager race lite disc wheels w/ hutchenson scorpion tubeless tires, Shimano deore XT derailurs, manitou super black 130mm front fork, manitou spv 3 way rear shock, and hayes hfx-9 hydr. disc brakes.. I have about 3k wrapped up into it, but I love it. Anyone else have bikes? or know of any good trails, I'm always looking for new places to ride.

Mike are you neglecting your cobra again? sheesh

I have only done road trips on bikes. Longest one was from pa to niagra falls. of course there was only one other girl that went and she got injured on the first half of the first day of the trip...

I always liked the jeykl's .. but I'm just not sure how I feel about the lefty front forks.. they creep me out for some reason lol. Im not sure if you know about this or not, but trek now offers a fully personalized bike from the factory, its only available on the higher end models, and they also have a full carbon framed bike now too.. yikes! lol... No Day, I wouldnt say neglecting.. I have been very good lately, I havent bought a bike in over a year lol. ( and that one was only a trek 4500 disc hardtail ie not very expensive) rough ride but climbed like pissed off eagle.. lol. Thats quite a roadtrip, I used to do 30-50 miles last year on the weekends.. very relaxing going down quiet country roads.. I cant wait for summer!

Thats what I've heard, once you ride a lefty, you'll never go back.. but i'm just scared to make the transition... kinda like going from a fox to a sn95... I know it will handle/ brake better.. but i'm still uneasy about it haha.

    Talking Where's Atlantic?

I used to ride/race about ten years ago. I'd hit the Seven Springs and Hidden Valley races. PA is right on the edge of two racing districts, but not really in either one. I found a series in Ohio called Mickey's Mountain Bike Challenge. It was one race a month for 6 months. It was spaced out pretty good, so one trip a month to Ohio wasn't too bad. I won the points in the "beginner" class (5 out of 6 races), but I had to miss the last race because it was my 1st Wedding Anniversary. Never did get my prize... I think it was a set of Rox Shox forks, but I forget what model.

Oh well, I went riding one time up at the old Laurel Mountain Ski Resort on top of Route 30 (near Jennerstown). I bet we rode 30 miles that day on different trails. Very nasty rocks and logs kinda trails. I loved it.

I don't ride any more... no time with work and everything else... and I just don't like the motors (my lungs) on those things. They get worse as time goes on???

OH, my bike is still hanging in the garage. It's a Specialized Stumpjumper M2 (supposedly the frame is aluminum infused with ceramic. not supposed to be as stiff as 100% alum). It came with full LX components, but a few were replaced with XT after I smashed 'em. I was actually just looking at some websites a few days ago. That new stuff with the disc brakes looks cool as hell. It'd be worth it buy one and put it in your living room as a decoration.

Haha to answer trolls question even though it is a few months old.. atlantic is about 15 miles south of Meadville via I-79.. so roughly 1.5 hours north of the burgh.. It sucks because there are not very many stangs up here and nowhere to cruise.. but the bonus is there are plenty of good single track trails.. the rocky, log infested kind : ) just my style haha. The disc brakes are amazing ... if not a little hard to get used to.. all you need is 1 finger to slow you down.. it is VERY easy to put yourself over the bars the first time out with them (trust me I did it lol) oh well.. all part of a days ride.

I ride single track quite often. Pittsburgh sucks for riding but there are a few good spots east, and north.
