They'll do anything to take money from you. I remember when I ride dirtbikes there was none of that crap.

I got mine registered and have insurance.
I did the registration for the law and the insurance to cover myself. It's only $100/year and it covers me if I run someone over and they get hurt or if I roll it down a hill and it gets all bent up or bursts into flames I get a check. It's worth it to me.

I don't see why you should have to register and insure anything not driven on public roads. I thought when you buy a off-road bike or quad that it comes with a title. The next thing they will require to be registered is bicycles cause they do ride them on public streets

Okay I agree. Lets build a scenario though.
Say that you are riding on someone's property (with permission) and you get hurt or hurt someone else. Who is going to pay the medical bills, for the damage to the machine(s), or property? I don't know but I would rather have the insurance pay and not need to worry about it.
The way I look at it, it's a necessary evil and for a lousy $100 a year I am not bothered by it enough to risk not having it and possibly getting a fine of $300 if I'm caught without insurance or registration.

Got that right. Another scenario....You are riding well within your abilities and decide to climb a hill multiple times. Well on the last climb you let off the gas too soon. Coast to the top, go to make the shitty, stupid *(&^^%%#%#%&^^^(&$^*%*()&+()_^% effing turn or you will run into a wall. (Piss poor design of a place to ride)(Slippery rock dunes) At the top your quad stalls cause you are in second gear. You jump off and the ground lets go. As your watching your prized posession fly down the hill, land on a friends quad just after he jumps off, observing a major shot of steam go up into the air and finish its tumble to the bottom. At that time you get up from the seat you grabbed to view the three thousand dollar show that unfolded right infront of you. You look over the machine and realize the dammage is more than you paid for the machine. Call the insurance company, turn in a bill for a good bit over 3 thousand dollars, get it fixed and keep riding. Money out of pocket=Zero, zip. Quad fixed, yep. Then I sold it on ebay and got the 700.

There are more but that's all that was logged!!!
I see what you are saying but it should be an option not mandatory. Back in the good old days you were responsible for what you did, if you rode like a nut and got hurt it was your fault, if you hurt someone else it was your fault, if you got hurt on someones property it was your fault not the landowners.
