Z06 Hillclimb Video, Pagoda 2012

Finally got the Z06 out on it's first hillclimb. From Sunday, went faster than this but this is the fastest run I have on video. Stock '01 Z06, intake and exhaust (Paul's '04 trapped 2 mph higher than it bone stock), disconnected ABS, A6s. Stock everything else.

Speedometer indicated well over 130 mph (straight was in fourth gear), radar gun entering turn 6 indicated 119 under braking. Between corners in the tight sections reaching 70 or so. We run the hill in August with another mile added on that is basically a 1 mile straightaway, called the Duryea hillclimb.

Wow. I'd be scared to wreck it. Didn't seem the speeds were that high on the video.

Leaving it stock for this year. Cam/heads/headers over the winter.

The car has to have a four-point rollbar (look up an Autopower Race 4 point to get an idea, has to have a diagonal bar), 5 or 6 point harness, and a fire extinguisher. Driver has to have a fireproof suit, gloves, socks, and a Snell SA rated helmet. Very easy to get into.

Im just glad your racing a disposable zo6 and not potentally wrecking a good mustang. BTW the audio sounds just like the chase in bullitt

Sick vid Mark! Looks like a lot of fun. Do you plan on ever running the GTI at one of these hillclimbs? My bros old 07 GLI was fun as hell to drive.

I have been trying to get her to let me put a bar in it and have her hillclimb it since she got it. I honestly don't have too much interest in it, but it is a fun car on the street. She loves it.

If so, how do the times compare?

Looks and sounds great Mark! have you done any autocrossing with it? If not do you plan to?

Silverhatch- these cars will do right around 70mph in 2nd gear. I heard Mark hit a few gears higher than that in the video so the preception of speed may just be lost in the video.

A bit, lol. Cobalt actually ran a pretty stupid time at the extended version of this hill though

This one, no. At the extended version I broke 2 minutes (on a run where I was pushing so hard I tagged the guardrail and kept going) in my old '95, and just by judging by others times who have run both, this should be a bit quicker. Mustang was full suspension, ~350 whp NA 302, 315 A6s. I should have a better idea once I run a couple more, was the car's first event.

I autocrossed it once, and had issues with the ABS (locking RR, hence the disabled ABS), and ran it on junk street tires, so I really haven't yet. Planning on trying to get out and run an event with you guys at Jennerstown.

I was in 4th on the "straight", everywhere else I was coming out of the tight sections in 2nd, with sometimes shifting to 3rd. Was nearing rev limiter between each corner in 2nd, and got close on the straight in 4th. Definitely hard to get a perception of speed with the video.
