    Mickey stiff sidewall slicks

Finally got a chance to run these today and damn was it a shockingly fun.

First pass I was not ready for how well they hooked. Left at my normal 6200, struts full loose, tires at 11psi. Thing left yanking front up and snapped my head back hard. Dead hooked with a 1.60 sixty but rpm drop killed some ET. Now I have been quicker in the sixty before but never this hard it seemed.

Next pass, yes MORE RPM, I added 300 to launch and 100 to shifts. Left tires alone and tightened struts one click. Same thing, yanked front up and snapped my head back. Still dead hooked with only a 1.61 sixty. The rpm drop after launch was still bad.

First round I tightened struts one more click, added .5psi to slicks. Pulled front up but held it and car seemed to get off line better. Still had a slight bog but much less rpm drop as car was little quicker. Sixty went away but I think it didn't like the added air.

Will hit up TnT this week to play with setting. I think my launch will end up over 6800 when I'm done. Just need to get the little wheel spin back off the line.

Nice Ed! My next slicks will be SSW I think.A few random things I've observed with my changes this year (less lauch gear).

I am up in air pressure a lot from where I historically was (+3-4 psi) on both DOT's and Slicks

My slicks are tubbed & screwed and the tubes tend to act like a stiff sidewall. I always run more air in the more narrow slicks that I dod the wider DOT's. That was always about 2# difference.

I have not been on MT tires for some time, but now that I have them as DOT's, I'm loving them. The QTP hook better when you hit everything right, the MT's are much more forgiving.

Also, the MT's are a different burn out process for me. Spin them less and do not power down into bite, more like cut them off and roll up.

In the end, I have my MT DOT's at 16 starting and my Slicks at 19 starting and adjust from there. Both of those are higher than I ever thought I could run tire pressures. Those prsssures get me where I can turn them over yet still control it.

Also FWIW, this combo is now MUCH less sensistive to 60' affect. I basically cut the 60' changes in half from my previous set-up's. That has made things much more predicatable.

Lots of things I will need to play with on thursday. I didn't even wear off the little knubs on the tread surface yesterday. Still am amazed at how well these slicks worked.

I know first pass I hazed them fairly well and after words they barely made it out of water box and they grabbed within 6 seconds. Was just roll to beams and go.

Lol. Two guys that drive their cars everywhere, drive them to the track, change tires, then abuse them like they are rental cars, then change tires and drive home (hopefully). .... If that's Racecar, that's what we are I guess ;)
