    83 Mustang GT 5k miles

This is sitting in Meyersdale Pa at Meyersdale Automotive Center. Its a 5 speed with it says 5k on the odometer. It looks great. As nice as your ever gonna find. They are asking 8500 for it though.

Malaise-era carb'ed 5.0 Mustang LX? I think they are only worth something to us Mustang goobers who like those oddball 4-eye cars.

Other than that I can't imagine it ever being collectible.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

IMO, they already are. There are a few collectors buying these low milers up as investments. They will go through a cycle just like the rest, when people who wanted them when they were new get older and have cash the demand and price will climb. Look through the past, cars always climb and then fall off as the generations die off.

Well, not that it makes a difference... but this malaise-era car is clearly a GT, not an LX.

Most performance oriented cars get modified and/or wrecked... the stock & original ones will always command more coin.

Also, don't forget that the "Boss is Back" ad campaign of the early 80s wasn't BS... those first 5.0 cars were the first Mustangs that had any chance of running with the legendary 60s stuff. Now that everything has become so much faster I think all the older cars will be appreciated for their relative performance given the technology of the era... and a four-eyed 5.0 will pull most Porsche 911s of the same year to at least 100mph.

Jeez Greg...how do you know this?

Do you care to tell us how both of those cars will fare against, say, an '03 Marauder with a Trilogy??

There are so few unmolested cars left from that time period. The super clean unmolested cars will always retain / gain value. Even though demand for them might not be considered "high", the supply is so small / non-existent that their value will remain strong.

When it was still stock, the Marauder walked away from an astonished coworker's '91 Porsche 911 so I'm pretty sure it would have gotten the better of our '83... as long as we were on a straightaway!

Different horses for courses... grabbin' gears in my 5.0 is still the best instant gratification!

I agree with this. The guy who would buy this one (even though its sweet) would have a thing for this year. I have seen some guys on Craigslist selling 1986 GTs for $15K to $!7K. If I am going to spend that much money, I would go buy a new one instead of high bucks for a 25+ year old Mustang. It does not mean I dont love them but they are going to be worth only so much.
