    MAF conversion parts

I'm doing a MAF conversion on my 87 LX & hopefully somebody fairly close has some parts for sale. Let me know, thanks.

I found a complete kit for around $300 that included the PCM. MAF, MAF bracket(?), & the wiring that you tie into the existing stuff in the car. I'm not sure if thats a good deal or not. I'm not going to be using a stock MAF very long but I'm not sure if I should buy a aftermarket one at this time or not

That's what I decided to do. I'm going to re-ring & bearing it over the winter & hopefully gather up enough funds to do a H/C/I setup for it. Nothing crazy, just something that's fun to drive & capable of driving anywhere at anytime

Glad to see your going to give the 302 a chance. They are good motors and can last forever. I had a buddy have one with over 250K and at least the last 80K were with a 100 shot lol. It will run better than expected.

with 120k i would just throw hci on it and let it eat, unless oil press is low and a leakdown test makes rings look bad

oil pressure is great, just smokes a little. I'm going to run a leakdown on it & see, but I'm probably just going to ring & bearing it since I'm pulling the motor out to clean up & paint the engine bay.

I really think it's the valve seals or guides that are causing it to smoke some. I only notice it when I start it or run it through the gears pretty hard.

Valve seals are pretty common with those miles and spirited driving....on a side note, you should definitely get that harness off of Lou, they can be hard to find. Direct plug in is always better than splicing wires. I had no choice with my 86

I've put more miles on it in the two weeks that I've owned it, than I did the Trans Am the entire year. That's including the trip to Wheeling, WV where the new owner of it met me. lol

Definitely getting that harness. Although I can do some nice wiring, I would rather just plug something in.

I'm going to start a new thread for this build though, since this isn't exactly the place.
